I love this forum...

Only if you are a Black Hole.

Indeed.

This brought actual tears of nostalgia to my eyes. Well done sir.
You're welcome, although, it's ma'am, actually. But somehow the Blue Danube always sounds wrong to me when I hear the full orchestration as opposed to chip music style. Go figure. :D

...is large and gassy? :p

Begging your pardon, ma'am.

I'm a big fan of the rendition from the Amiga 500 version (which is the one I grew up playing), and I know what you mean, with orchestration it sounds weird somehow.

Elite Mad

The difference between stupidity and genius is that genius has its limits.
Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former.
Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. Albert Einstein

I think the forum and community here is actually a little odd to explain to outsiders (don't flame yet, I'll redeem myself, hopefully). For instance the majority of post sentiments are a little childish in their topics:

(Read these in the voice and excitement level of a 9 year old)
What will it be like?
Will it do this?
Can I get away with this?
Why doesn't this work like this?
When can I have it?
I need it now!

But the posts are written and articulated in language that doesn't fit in with the childish excitement of the posts topic.

Now I didn't actually notice this myself. I was showing a couple of posts to my better half who made the comment.

So as a member of the community (albeit a late entrant and on the fringe) I wasn't sure how to take this. But I think others summed this up earlier in the thread, it really brings out the inner child and sends many of us back to our youth and playing the original Elite on some, now, very antiquated computers. I for one am actually really happy about that.

I think this is probably one of the most grown up and childish forums I have ever been a part of, in a good way :)

At least I don't see a barrage of TL;DR and inb4lock posts.

sometimes it's not that easy to come up with a good title...
- it should show what the post is about
- it shouldn't be a two liner
and most important:
- you should be sober when posting it.

the last one is the most difficult ;)

Yes, it... has too much sound in it. :D

...and has rings around it. Ive seen the pictures.
Cool. The rings. The rings are cool, I mean. Ice cool.
