I love this game, but...

...holy hell, is it hard. The island ratings are way too fickle. It's borderline impossible to get 5 stars on Muerta or Tacano. I've had 4 1/2 dinosaur rating and 4 1/2 guest rating on Muerta for awhile now, but nothing I do can make it go any higher. I love a challenge as much as the next guy, but this is ridiculous. I just want to get 5 stars on Muerta and Tacano so I can move on to Pena.

I would say the opposite, it's too easy ;)

But anyway - what do you have the issues with - dinosaurs or facilities?

Dinosaurs : get more, modify them for worth, get ones with higher value. You shouldn't need too many though, as five starring pena is a thing.
Facilities: Look at the summary for how your facilities are - make things that are bad .. better. Use the business maps to work out where to put shops / food etc. More hotels allow more guests, which seems to make it easier to get the highest rating. Monorail if you have transport issues.

I have "great" for every category (welfare, satisfaction, etc.) for both dinosaurs AND guests.

I have a monorail station but my transportation rating is still only around 25%.

This is actually starting to me off. I've been trying for five hours to get my %#%#@ rating up to 5 stars. I just want to go on with the game.

You don't need to five star as you go - I tended to jump to a new island and only go back and 5* as a break. If transport is yur issue I would ask if you have make the monorail go close to the entrance (the text in game say 'distance from entrance' or somesuch).

Adding something like this (next to the entrance) should boost your transport a lot :

Edit: You can make yours less wiggly ;)

I wouldn't care about five stars except that that's the only way to unlock stuff. I want Dig Team Bravo. I want the Coastal Skin. If the only thing you got from 5 stars was a trophy, I wouldn't care less.

My monorail covers the whole island. I still can't get my transportation percentage up.

From my experience, you won't get transportation rating higer than 85% even if you COVER the island in monorail and do a handstand. :D
But you don't really need it. I discovered that things that matter the most are the dinosaur variety and certain guest buildings like hotels, arcades and restaurants.

Also, have your carnivores fight. When they win a fight, their rating goes through the roof. I usually breed like 10 raptors and have them kill each other. The four that are left are then loved by the guests. Same with big carnivores. Let the T-rex kill a couple of smaller carnivores and she can run the park herself. :)

Well, others have tried my suggestion for monorail, post a pic of your monorail at the entrance if you can - not convinced you have got it close enough.

You should really post your stats if you want help on improving them, otherwise we're just guessing.

How do you do that? Mine always run around together (maybe because I put them in with Rexy, so they have a lot on their minds!). Then again I only usually have 5ish ...

They start to fight each other when you exceed the population limit and put them in a really confined area. If you make them unhappy in any other way (hunger/thirst, unsuitable habitiat, etc.) they usually just try to escape.

Most of my percentages are in the 60s to 80s. My transportation stat is consistently low.

It's not really about that. Drinks, food and fun are important and most of all the variety of dinosaurs.
My Matanceros park's stats are less than stellar, but I still have 5 stars.

I can't get a 5 star rating on Matanceros to save my life. what I will do is unlock each island and as I get better Dinosaurs, facilities and so on I will go back to previous islands and upgrade them.

That's what I'm doing right now. Either demolishing partsa of the park and upgrading them, or, when I really made a mess, restarting the island and building it from scratch. :)
I now know have and know things I simply didn't, before.

Anyway, 5-starring a park is klind of an endgame, I think. One really only need to reach three stars and do the missions to have everything.

Yeah, I've 5 stared it and haven't moved on to the next islands yet, so it's done with just the starter stuff even. A nice bit of a fun challenge, but definitely doable. :)

My main trouble is getting everything setup the way I want it just so while locking in the rating, profits, and the like. Locking in the ratings at 5 stars was a bit easier, but I wasn't quite satisfied with the park yet. Still fine tuning it a bit.

I would say its too easy. Once you work out the mechanics of the game (which personally I thought weren't explained that well but eventually figured everything out) it's just a steam roll. Some more depth and difficulty would be nice in the future.

I want to go back to each island build nice parks on mine with some Dinosaurs with high ratings. I especially want to get some Sauropods on Matanceros and a Rex.
