I LOVE this game!

In the midst of all the usual discussion re: missing features and bugs, I thought it needed to be said.

Elite: Dangerous is bloody marvelous. I haven't played a game this much - ever! The scale and beauty of the universe is incredible, the graphics and audio remain stellar, I really enjoy the combat and flight models, and really, genuinely enjoy the variety that FD have enabled in this game.

I've been playing over a year - since the start of Premium Beta, and taken it slow. I've tried all professions, but never stuck with one profession (or ship) for long. I'm not "rich" - I fly a FDL and have maybe 10m in the bank - and attribute part of my enjoyment if the game to patience on the credit earning front.

Despite playing for over a year, there are still many thing I have not done and look forward to one day trying:
- mining with limpets
- refueling someone else's ship or seeing someone refuel mine
- flying the DBS, DBE, Courier, Python, Dropship, Adder, Type 7, Type 9, Anaconda
- trying a huge PA on my FDL
- deep space exploration
- smuggling (properly; as a career)
- piracy (not sure I ever will!)
- participating in a race across the galaxy
- going after 'bad guys' in a coordinated wing
- participating in PP properly and with focus
- participating in a community goal

Some of these are trivial, and some will require more time. My point is: I have a lot of personal goals that I still need to achieve, aside from ranking up and earning credits, of course.

This is what makes me come back to the game, again and again. Elite: Dangerous really is a fantastic game. Sure, I'd love to see more stuff added (and am confident it will!), but I'd also like to say that what we have right now is pretty darned good!

Man, I hate you positive types!:D
Shouldn't be allowed on this forum!:D

I agree with you OP. Eltie is a blast. R+ for you. I've not played a game this much in quite some time...and like you, I find there are many things in Elite that I've yet to try. My nephew plays ED and he's been telling me about his smuggling exploits--- it sounds like a pretty hair raising profession to be doing...I'm finding power play adds a kind of continuity and more immersion to the game that it didn't have before because every week, I drop whatever I'm doing for a couple days and run over to the power I've signed up with to do a few things for them...then it's off to other stomping grounds with me again...and now when I travel from one area of the galaxy to another I need to pay attention the the route I take in order avoid more interdictions..the vastness of space is more territorial than before

Same for me, Katkon - I haven't got this engaged with a game for a decade or more - it's brill!

Nice to see that I'm not the only one who sees it in a very positive light, bugs and room for improvements and all.

I'd rep you but I can't because i've already repped you for this

Well, I could - and did!

Great post! Not only because of the positivity, but first and foremost for the reasonable attitude concerning money and progress. Not being obsessed with getting an Anaconda ASAP but instead doing what is fun - and not what yields the most credits! - is something few players seem to be capable of in the game. Thumbs up from me! :)

Agreed! I even think the root of some negativity/worries actually come from a community with a deep love of the game who can see its future potential and are deeply interested in its development.

There is so much Elite gets right, this game is great on many levels, and where it 'needs' improving I see signs of active work toward improvement, whats not to love?
Yeah, 'needs' is just my opinion.

I echo your sentiments completely. I've just returned after taking a good 6 months off, recovering from a shoulder reconstruction and I've not really paid much attention to the progress since I left up until now. Amazing progress and one of the first things I did was to spend a few days scraping together the readies in my T7 for an FDL. So many other ships I've yet to try but i'm in no rush.. that FDL fits me like a glove :D

Me too. I took part in the Sirius CG and thought it was a blast. Have had fun trading, hunting RES and just flying around. So much I still want to try... PP or exploring exped next I think!
