I loved Elite but can't bring myself to buy this remake... Tell me I'm wrong!!

Well, its payday tomorrow and I'll pick the game up. I guess I'm going to be needing a new joystick as my current one sucks!

Thanks all. The idea that there are so many systems you can find your own area, an that the market isn't fully player driven as NPCs take part is what finally sold me.

How well does SLi work in this game?

you have to learn the game, trust me I know how frustrating it is to learn all the rules and stuff. I had like 100k fine for doing stupid crap, now I paid that all off, have a cobra and bounty hunting for constant money. Its a very fun game but not super friendly to newcomers.

The funny thing is, trading hasn't been made difficult because of player influence but due to the ai influence. This is hopefully going to be fixed and the devs have said they're looking into it.

Your fears are unfounded. Whether you play in open or solo, there's much more basis for a solo player than eve-like mp. That said, solo is the perfect mode for you.

Just get the game and start enjoying yourself.

You are wrong. This game is clearly not elite but, as a huge fan of that game, imho it gives some of the same feeling and enjoent. So buy it and play ot. It's Great!

I understand how you feel, but honestly due to the sheer size of the galaxy simulated your worries are really unfounded. I have played a lot of solo and it really is just like playing a normal single player game.

I've only been playing on open play, and I've barely encountered other players, and can't tell the difference from npc's anyway.

NO NO NO NO NO NO NO. This is more true to the original than you think. As everyone else has said, our worries are not really valid. Get your butt back in the galaxy brother!

People change, games are pretty much based on the same things as always. I know them better than people, given the steady foundations, sadly. It is not a question of the game, but it is a question of how you look at games these days. This is an old school approach, in many ways. There must be time dedicated to dig into it, and there will be a need to look around for answers. And you need to have that "hands on" simulator mindset, in order to enjoy it. And probably not be addicted to something else entirely.

It is a gamble, for the variables are not easily combined into a finite result. The game was released a little early, there are some gaps there IMHO. Bear that in mind. I love it, but love is not quantifiable, it is very personal, and it is not a good basis for constructive criticism.

This is an expansive space simulator with potential, some areas not fleshed out so greatly as others. Probably need a joystick in order to enjoy it, not mandatory, but recommended. And a patience above average for the consumate consumer I guess. No flashy cut scenes, no hand holding, no narrator guiding your adventures. No bard to sing your praise, and no unicorns that I know of. But there will never be a strange voice saying "you cannot go that way" at least. You can, but only if you want to. And for those saying there is a sameness to it all, that's because space comes without variable biomes. Sorry to say. There are no mountains, forests, or swamps to traverse. Yet! Maybe in the planetary landing expansion?

Without interest, we will never know. What I do know, is that the only way to move forward, is to make that leap of faith. Obviously that will not work for all, and this game is not for all to enjoy. For we are not made equal. No factory standards apparently! Elite Dangerous is made in the same vein as the previous titles, not always an improvement, but it is more ambitious than ever. The only barrier would be time and interest, of that I'm sure!
