I made it back!

Shame the blasted game keeps crashing :(

Still - this is where I've started:

and I keep seeing lots of these:

That was a profitable system!

Wish me luck. I'm going back in.

Welcome back.

I never really paid too much attention to that little window at first until I started seeing bonuses scrolling by that were 30,000+, then it got my full attention and I now let it finish scrolling all the way through before I then go back over it to see what's what.

It's time consuming and drags out the process of selling data by a considerable amount, but I like watching the bonus window now as it's become part of my end of trip routine.

Congratulations on making it back. I'm still heading away from habitable space and around 1700LY out now. Still a long way to go to my destination but I'm enjoying the tranquillity of being so far away studying the heavens. You obviously remembered how to dock! lol ;-)

haha! Where did you visit? Anywhere specific?

Just the usual SagA* and Neutron field farm. Did a couple of dog legs on the way out as I stumbled across a black hole badland. Now I'm back I'll dig out the system names and let people know where it is. (lots of Black holes in a very confined space)

Yeah..... docking.

That was an experience and I'm glad no one was there to watch.

That's what the training section is for! Get in that Sidey and practice a dock or two, just to be sure...

Good job CMDR! How far out did you go? That system region sounds familiar, but I can't remember where it is now, been so long!

Ahhh, so another Sag A visitor. Instead of heading towards the core I'm heading towards Eta Carina but I'm travelling using eco route only. I'm nearly at 500 systems visited. Think I estimated I'm averaging 200 systems per 1000LY so should see around 3200 systems in total unless I just keep going past the nebula and don't come back!

My intention is to get back out again ASAP. I'm going to trade for a while now and grind at getting enough to afford an Anaconda so I can jump out a long way and find a quiet corner of the Galaxy to call my own :)

I will admit I was hoping to get enough to afford a Type-9 straight away (needed 100 million I think) but I can go for a type-7 or possibly a Python now. Then trade up.

So..... trading.... how do you do that then?

Oh, and there really ought to be a community goal to build a station at SagA*.

Welcome back :)

or possibly a Python now.....

This.

A Type-7 will restrict you to stations only. Python gets you into the houses of ill-repute as....arghhh apologies I meant outposts :D

Regarding trading, get yourself a hauler and start prospecting, as it were. You need High-Tech stations and from there find Extraction/Industrial systems within, say, 20-30LY. List commodity prices or fill your hold with 1 ton of every expensive commodity that can be offloaded at the other station and start looking: It's like exploring - the WILL come a time when you stumble across the honey-hole: Mine currently delivers me a profit after expenses of about 6 million an hour with a Type-9.

You do need patience prospecting for a good trade route. Once found, it's yours to stay, capable of being milked for months. If you want to enlist the aid of a crutch then there are a lot of community tools out there that list routes for you. These are however hit-and-miss as the entire community may be hitting a route, tanking it in short order.

Another option is to go to the outskirts of populated space (my current home is over yonder from buttcracknowhere) a jump or two away from a high-tech station and there are trade-routes that pay about 4.5 mil an hour. The advantage is that you are truly alone (my home system traffic report has now been static at 1-me for months now) and you are two jumps away from the badlands of unoccupied space if the exploration bug bites again.

Good Luck!

Don't think I quite have enough to start trading with the Python at the moment :( I'll grab a type-7 for a bit and get enough for the Python. I've read the articles about which is preferable and it looks like the Python is better to get you to the Anaconda more readily (the type-9 being a horrible ship to fly in)

quite right !
If you want lots of profit in least time you need a type-9 + a return route in same system, or in neighbouring but both stations close to entry star.
That 9 is a pig to fly !!!!

I forgot to mention: I got interdicted BY THE POLICE when I jumped into the first inhabited system. I'm not kidding. I saw there was a Federation outpost so decided to repair and sell off a little data and a flipping system security ship interdicted me!

I tell you, people just don't like us travelling folk.
