I made it to the centre!

Well that's it. a goal I've had pretty much since I bought the game, reaching Sagittarius A*, has been met. I made it there, and was blown away! And then I dropped to scan the tourist beacon and saw a tourist ship and the sense of achievement evaporated a little in the same way as when I climbed Mount Snowdon as a kid and discovered there was a railway down the other side of the mountain.

BUT I DID IT AND NOBODY CAN TAKE THAT AWAY!

Although why you'd want to sit and watch me play E:D for 12 hours is a mystery.

Lol, yeah I was in the game from the start and did the trek when it was much slower and more difficult but even then over 50 players had already made the trek, I think one guy was there before the game even got out of Beta testing.....

2Karl, it matters not how many people have been there before, what's important that you, yourself did this journey and it is still one that can all too easily go wrong for the unwary CMDR. Plenty of folk have lost their ships attempting this run so what you have done is still an achievement, so, well done to you!

Oh yeah I'm not letting anything take away from my achievement. Especially as I only have a 5B FSD and I'm jumping at 25LY...

That's more or less the same spec as the very first player to reach there (Zulu Romeo? Hope I got his name right) in a Cobra MkIII just after the final Beta wipe (amazing at the time with much harder navigation than today and no engineering buffs), so what you have really done is recreate that journey Zulu made all those years ago. So not only is it simply a journey you have done but recreated a bit of Elite history too! As a suggestion, you ought to rename your ship the Kon-Tiki. ;)

I have a set naming convention for my ships (something I started back in X3:Reunion):

Exploration ships have the prefix KES and are named after philosophers (Heidegger is my only one at present, but in X3 I had Heidegger, Nietzsche and Sartre)
Haulers have the prefix KHS and are named after counties (Northamptonshire is my only one at present, but in X3 the fleet comprised Northamptonshire, Warwickshire and Leicestershire)
Combat Ships have the prefix KCS and are named after pro-wrestlers (I don't have any at present but I think my first will be something silly like Kendo Nagasaki)

So I need something for passenger transports. The prefix will probably be KPS or KTS but I need a theme. Animals? Native American tribes? Hats?

well done! I was there a couple of years ago and remember the daunting prospect of the journey back! Congrats, it's a massive endurance test!

Famous earth cruise ships? KPS Titanic, KPS Queen Mary? Or the companies that famously ran earth cruise ships? KPS Cunard, KPS White Star etc.

First suggestion too obvious I think. I like the obscurity in the second suggestion, though.

Ha ha ha, gotta hate The Beacon... You travel for weeks to see something extraordinary, misterious, DEADLY... to find a bunch of Orcas talking about g marriages! Was off-putting to me, too.

I'm slowly making my way back to the bubble. I visited Great Annihilator today. Next stop is Atlas II. After that I've plotted a few more stops for sightseeing (nebulae, pulsar, guardian ruins) and then once I've sold my exploration data I'll be taking a little break.

Pfft... "along the way"... On my last trip to the far/north edge of the galaxy, I came back to the bubble via Colonia -> Heart & Soul -> Crab nebula, entering the bubble from the south. Felt perfectly fine to me. ;) :D lol

Way to go! I've always wanted to but never have. I'd go bananas out there.
