I need help fitting diamond back explorer for medium-long range Exploration

Hi all,

I am asking for help after reading tons of contradicting reports, and especially, since the budget of most is not really mentioned. So, with a total of 7 mio budget, can someone please recommend me an all-out-exploration diamond back explorer? I want to keep shields however, that is a must have for me Please, any advice or fit example would be great.

Ok got it under 7M, but you only get 26LY jump with lower grade FSD, and slower fuel scooping..

The lower rated power plant means higher temp, but I don't know how much higher.

dbe starts above 11,6 million, asp 13,8 million.
hauler (3 mio - 26 ly jumprange - 4t fuel tank, no AMU)
adder (4,3 mio - 26 ly jumprange - 8t fuel tank)
dbs (5 mio, 27,5 jumprange, 16t fuelrange, no AMU)
cobra (8,3 mio - 26 ly jumprange - 16 t fuel tank)

i'd go with a dbs i your case.

My Old DBE was worth 11.7 mil (not fully tricked you can spend up to 16 mil for a fully pimped explorer fit DBE) and I used her alot until I upgraded her to an Asp. 7 mil spends on an explorer fit DBE is tight.

I know this is a 7mil DBE thread but If I had those funds I would be looking at an explorer fit Cobra, it can be done for 2.4 mil credits:

If you are serious about a DBE, and they are good as explorers do not get me wrong, then I would wait and save a bit more, aim for 13 mil, this will give you a 11.7 mil DBE rig with insurance and a slush of 1mil creds as a safety net should the worse happen, 7 mil just isnt enough if you want a good explorer DBE, the 5A FSD costs 5 mil alone and thats what is going to give you that magical 33.6 LY range that makes the DBE very very competitive.

27.54ly effective jump range, 28.45 ly max. Shields but not guns. Scoops in 54s, and has AFMU. 6.8MM. Rebuy 342k.

You can go to Sag A* and back with it, provided you are not in a rush. The FSD is not the max, so stretches are covered in 35-40 jumps for every 1,000 years.

I know, cause that's my jump range in my Fully kitted Asp, and I just did a 75,000 ly trip...in over 3 months...

You could shave a bit more off by going for a 3D power distributor, both cheaper and lighter.

The auto maintenance unit isn't required for medium range exploration either. I choose to invest in a 4A fuel scoop and 5A FSD annd leave home without a toolkit and made it home safely.
