I need help from the combat cmdrs

Are you sure about this? I thought all lasers were for shields and all projectiles were for hull armour?

Beam weapons are most effective against shields, and slug throwers against hulls, but that doesn't mean lasers are no use at all against hulls, and vice versa - just not the most effective choice,
 
It doesn't really matter about anything except beams. They are what you want so ignore the rest! Since energy weapons take up far more power than kinetic, and because no reasonable kinetic weapon is good against shields, you want your energy weapons to be the most effective against shields that they can possibly be, leaving you to switch to kinetic for hull damage: as in all ships above the Eagle you have room for both.

Things might change with the upcoming Vulture though.... with only 2 hardpoints it might be worth having an energy weapon that damages shield and hull!
 
Absolutely not.

My Cobra and Asp are all MC, my Python is all laser. I don't have any problems taking out shields or armor on either of them.

Argh! Why? That's so inefficient. All MC must take forever, and so much amo, to take down shields, and an all laser Python can't fire for more than a few seconds without overheating. I fly the Pytohn with 3xC3 beams and 2xC2 MC and even that overheats her like crazy.
 
I decided on 2 beam lasers, gimballed and 2 Multi-cannons, gimballed. Have the military grade armor but was debating on the reflective(the one that protects against lasers). Anyone use that or should I stick with Military? I kill things fairly quickly and I like the setup. I'm doing A pretty decent job at bounty hunting (npc's) getting close to 250k an hour and I throw in the kill missions now and then for extra credits.
