I need help!! Xbox updated and deleted everything.

I was forced to update my Xbox when it finally finished it erased everything and I need to get it back now. I had 350gb of games on it. I have 7mbs internet it will take weeks to redownload I need at least a reason why this happened and maybe a way to fix it.

Ouch man sorry to hear that. Not much you can do if it erased all, only thing I can recommend is to use an external hard drive next time.

Really this is the second time this has happened. Large external hardrive are to expensive. No more video games for me my Xbox one is now a oversized overpriced DVD player.

I don't know if there is anything you can do, but it would be worth posting on an official Microsoft forum about it.

I would start with ED since the download is relatively small and can be done in 2-3 hours at your speed.

You could also rent some of the games you own a digital license for and install them from disc since it would be faster. It might be worth a month's subscription to Gamefly for that.

2tb for $110, that's the Xbox external harddrive and it's dirt cheap compared to one's like I use(my 5tb cost me $200).

Sorry mate that blows. Im guessing all your games are saved in the cloud? You can specify which download first with your slow Internet speed. I would contact m $ as to the why .
Once again I sincerely feel for your months of time and effort gone!

I have bills and a life. The max I can afford is maybe $20 . I have reported the issue to Microsoft they told me I was out of luck and screwed.
If my Xbox didn't take every single once of my internet I wouldn't have a problem redownloading everything. But when I start downloading something on my Xbox my internet is unusable until it's done.

Wow really? You're going to pull that one? As if other people don't have jobs, families, bills, and lives. I get that $85 might be too much for you, but don't act like anyone that can afford it has neither a life nor reponsibilities.

I'm combat logging on this thread. Good luck?

Did you opt OUT of the preview program? I read that if you Opt-Out at this point in time, they will then send out the current PUBLIC version of the XB1 Dashboard to your XB1, and because of what is required to remove the Preview versions of the Dashboard from your console's HDD, the drive needs to be wiped first, which also resets the console to factory defaults.

I haven't heard of this happening to anyone by accident, but I guess anything is possible.

But if you did in fact recently opt-out of the Dashboard Preview Program, then this is why your console was wiped as you described.

External hard drives aren't particularly expensive, though if you have a family, kids, mortgage etc, then I can understand the unwillingness to part with a large portion of cash to buy a larger HDD.

I have a 5TB external hard drive, made by seagate. It cost me less than £100. Have used it for almost 2 months now. No problems so far and it's pretty quiet as well :)

This is exactly what happened to me last week, I opted out of the preview program as it was pretty buggy and the next thing I know my internal HDD is wiped, thankfully I had half my games on my external and good internet so it wasn't a massive issue but a pain in the none the less.

Getting back on point, 7mb is plenty to download elite and resume you life :p

Start downloads going overnight when you're not using your internet connection. Prioritise the stuff you want to download first. See if you can borrow physical media from people nearby who have the same games to save you from having to download some stuff. There is no instant solution, but you'll get it all back, it's hardly the end of the world.

In the meantime, save up and buy a 1Tb external drive so you never have to go through it again. You have 350Gb of games, so you somehow found the money to buy those whilst paying bills and having a life... buying an external drive isn't much different.

Wow how mature of you to point out issues 90% of adult's have as if they were unique to you. Try complaining to me once you know what it's like to beg for a job because you're one step from being homeless because that's where I am right now. This $200 hdd was bought 4 year's ago & 2 month's after my local job market tanked and hasn't improved since.

are you in the preview program or not? Also, set your xbox to the Always on setting so it downloads while off and set your downloads to go overnight.

I do not know if you do this, nor do I know your current internet situation, but if your internet is unstable while you are downloading make sure that you are connected via hardline. This will give it a little bit more stability. I agree with everyone above, turn your box to always on and set the games you want to play to start downloading. Seven mb is a pretty good connection and you should get a lot accomplished while you sleep. :) Good luck CMDR, hope you get back on your feet quickly!

7MB isn't too bad, and it's not as though you can be playing all of your 350GB of games at once!! Get ED at the top of the list, and let it do its thing. You need to look at your link more carefully. You should be able to download at full speed on one device and have balanced bandwidth on others. Reboot your router for sure, and check that you're not autostarting any upload services (torrenty stuff for example) on your other devices.

7Mb~1MB/s ~ 3GB/hr.

Can you give some insight as to which update you did so that others can avoid the issue?
