I need MORE input!

i am digging for weeks now about the precedural generation that will come with the E:D release.
In my opinion there could be a little more actual footage of parts of it.
The exploration aspect will be strong within ED so why they let us starve...

in the latest (in my believe) interview DB is talking about the ability to exit the dust disk of the milky way and look down from top on it.

if any dev reads this.... PLEASE make a screenshot what this scenery.

i think im not the only one that is hungry for more of the exploreation related stuff.

Seriously good point. Much of the game so far has rightly concentrated on other stuff but perhaps we will see some more in Alpha 4; which is to include trade and travelling. ;)

FD need to get the game stable especially around instancing and the network code. That is more easily done if players are concentrated in a small area.

Isn't that best left to the first explorer to get 'out there' and grab that pic?

i give you this one.

i just cannot await to see the variety of anomalies and comets and what not.
if everything will be as scientific accurate as DB wants it to be, than we will have much joy to explore for the sake of itself.

The day where we can dogfight within the atmosphe of a gas giant, that is one of my personal dreams.
disturbed sensor readings mixed with proceduraly generated clouds and what not...

ok lets better get back to a point that is reachable...

what ship could be suited for exploration purposes?
any idea how many equipment slots an anaconda (example for a bigger ship that could be used for to digg and exploit unknown places) would have?

Hard to say - I don't think we are seeing much procedural content, if any, so far (are the planets & asteroid fields PG? The sky box isn't) and the travelling & trading build of alpha may only comprise a limited selection of extra hand-crafted systems to test the concept and basic mechanics.

I'd think that whenever the galactic map is introduced will be when we also start to get PG content - that might be the next build, but I wouldn't bet on it.

The planets are generated with PG. The asteroid fields too. And don't forget about the station! ;)

The stars and nebula however is just a skybox at the moment.

It is not in the interest of Frontier, of all reveal now. The testing phases use only a few % of the game. I think even, that the beta (and perhaps the gamma) will not show everything. We will have a lot of discoveries in the retail game.

Currently we are testing instancing and networking. That's better done with more players in a common area of the galaxy. Once this is stable I expect to see the universe expand and then the PG will be apparent.

Hopefully the procedural generation WONT become apparent. I believe its Frontier developments aim to make the PG look as if everything in the galaxy was handmade.... ;)

Sorry I meant in its effect eg millions of planets, not that it would be physically obvious because of the repetition.
