Hello I want to buy a new monitor looking for a 34" curved, 3440x1440
Reading users comments its really difficult to find something thats good for games like ED. Many report bleeding, smearing, ghosting. Dark background seems to be a difficult field for monitors.
I hope to get some advice from ED players who have a monitor that size

I have been playing ED and my flight sims for years on my Alienware 3440x1440 monitor and have not noticed any problems. But then I wasn't actually looking for any, but I've not had anything bad jump out at me. YMMV of course. :)

I've got a curved Samsung Odyssey G7 (the 26" version but a 34" is also available). It's not ultrawide (so 16:9) but its refresh rates and transition times are absolutely sensational. I was very sensitive to ghosting issues after the first monitor I tried suffered badly from things like orbit lines and other HUD elements fading in and out dramatically when I was moving my head tracker. I returned that and the Samsung G7 I got instead after much additional research is rock solid.

Just under a year ago, I was in the market and looking to splurge for myself. I was so close to purchasing the Alienware 34" monitor* at its cost (we all know it's not the lowest price out there). After all the product research I had done and literally one-click away from ordering, I noticed that there was a new monitor in the mix. I groaned at the thought of doing still more product research, but I did do it. I decided to take a chance at the competing LG Ultragear gaming monitor.** Literally the only spec that isn't as good or better than the Alienware is the G-Sync compatibility/capability. In fact the LG supports refresh rate natively that the Alienware only does in overclocked mode. Granted these high refresh rates are high, but...

If I don't mix up the terminology:
The Alienware is compatible, meaning it has been tested by Nvidia. The LG is compliant, meaning it is fully capable of G-Sync adaptive synchronization but hasn't been tested by Nvidia.
Again, apologies if I have mixed up the terminology, but the difference isn't mixed up.

My experience over the last 10+ months is that this display is VERY nice. I've experienced no issues with adaptive sync. I run the monitor at 3440x1440x100Hz with GSync on (DisplayPort, of course!). I really like it.

The model numbers may have changed slightly since I have purchased and it's also possible that testing has occurred, You'd have to look into it to be sure. Nvidia shows which monitors they have tested on their site. LG publishes full technical specs for their products on their website, so you can dive in!

If I may offer a little advice: be sure to purchase a high quality DisplayPort cable if you expect to need one (especially a longer one than might be included with the display.) My LG monitor came with a DP cable, but it was a little short for my application. I have my display mounted on a tall post-mount, not using the included base. I like my desk space and, being a little bit taller than average, I prefer the display to be at a decent height. I don't know if I'm allowed to offer product links/plugs here, so feel free to DM me if you're interested in more detail about cables, mounts, etc.

Happy shopping!
