I need trading help

So I decided to jump right into trading. I took advantage of the Zaonce sale and bought a Python and now I have 228 tons of cargo space and 175,000 credits. Too much space to run rares and I don't know how to do normal bulk commodity trading. Should I just start easy and just stick to buying gold and selling one thing at a time?

I keep hearing about this sale... How much are we talking about? I'm clueless... I generally don't partake in community goals or anything beyond simple stuff like USS hunting or trading. Feels like a huge thing to get into these community events and find info about them in-game....

Its a 15% discount on all Faulcon Delacy ships: http://elite-dangerous.wikia.com/wiki/Faulcon_DeLacy
Only in Zaonce system.

For future this thread does community goal updates: https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=113495

Edit: OP: If you're very careful you can trade without insurance but you have been warned and any "I lost my ship and am back to sidewinder" thread will be responded to with general laughter and amusement.
I'd recommend solo until you have re-buy cost although its rare to be interdicted if you're in python. Try to find a quiet system with as few players as possible and trade goods with high profit margins. (Sell in High demand, buy in High supply).
Check on the commodities market which item is sold where (it will say on the right something like: produced by X, consumed by Y) so you can use the system map to plot trade routes and hopefully make profits.

Note: Just because something costs 9000 per ton does not mean that it makes more profit. Check the comparison between the galactic average. The more different it is the more profit you make.

I got bored of playing it safe, I wanted to add a new element of danger to my game

What you're doing is most definitely dangerous, risking all your work. But one of the first trade runs I did was delivering gold. A pretty sweet profit per unit sold. Made a couple of million at it over a couple of days (totaling I think about 3 or 4 hours of trading).

Be safe! :)

I did gold a while back making about 1k per ton profit in only one jump but didn't have anything for hte return jump to pick up more gold and I don't remember the system it was :(

175,000cr/228 cargo slots works out at less than 770cr per tonne spending money. I don't think you'll be getting much gold at that price. When I flew my T7 with 208 slots I was spending well over a million cr a lot of the time to fill her up. You may either have to start with a few tonnes of expensive cargo or fill your holds with less expensive stuff for the time being.
I would seriously think about that rebuy cost though. Python to Sidewinder is an awful long drop.
Good luck, Commander and fly safe!
