I Need You Guys To Help Me Out Please!

As the title says, I need a bit of help from you guys!

So, I'm going to join the empire but I'm not 100% sure if what I'm about to do is the best way.

First of all, I need you guys' help with picking the right ship. I'm going to fly a diamondback scout or a viper mk4, but the two both seem so excellent in the same job that it's difficult to choose between them. I am currently sitting on a 3,500,000 budget so either ship I can afford and also upgrade. Thanks for this!

Secondly, I don't know the best way to level up the faction. I'm thinking bounty hunting in a well-known imperial system, but that might not be the best way. I can afford to take part in the slave trade, as I do know my Type 6 very well.

for empire faction join lavigny duval and go to expansion areas, there will be a whole lot of crime sweeps drop points jump into em kill everthing and you get merits for each kill, funnest way to rank up and play the game. better than running around and delivering things and buy the viper mk4 its a good ship usually you will be fighting them in the crime sweeps

you do mean powerplay right? or just empire ranking? cuz then its just going to empire own territory and doing everything you would normally do. charity is a good way to rank up.... doing high paying missions is a good way to rank up as well and also the discreet transports.

If you are talking about just Imperial rank, then sometimes stations in Imperial space will have missions which are specifically there to rank up in the Empire. They don't pay anything but offer a significant boost to your ranking. Same as in Fed space for Fed ranking.

Go to Imperial systems and do missions on the Bulletin Board. Do only ones where the faction you're doing them for has the Imperial insignia on it. That'll boost your Empire rank and influence. Don't stay in one area only if you're not finding good missions.

When you rank up enough, get the Courier.

Also, I'm not entirely sure if this is true, but I believe Aisling Duval's systems give even more reputation per mission done than other systems, even if you're not aligned with her. Her home system is Cubeo but you can see her sphere of influence on the Galaxy Map.

You've made the right choice in choosing the Empire, citizen!

The other Imperials in this thread have already given sound advice. Just keep running missions and stick to your guns and before you know it, you'll be nobility! The Emperor's tasks are also the most fun in my own humble opinion as I purge the corruption from Imperial space and gain merit in the process. It's a lot simpler and quicker than waiting for your power commodity allocation to replenish over and over so you can haul more than ten items at a time.
