Ships I overengineered and now my boost doesn't work.

I over engineered the distributor on my DBX and now my booster won't work. Learned about that last night. I was in the menu where it is pinned to see if I can go back but the only option is to keep upgrading the G5.

Do I need to buy a new distributor or do I need to go back to the engineer to start over? Kind of confused on this part.

Also, is there a list of what size modules each ship can take? I know it is dependent on build but I was told last night that I should have got a 3A instead of a 2A on my DBX. I didn't even know it could fit a 3A.

Lastly, is there a "roll" amount I should aim for that I should make sure I don't have this happen again? I feel like I keep trying to get G5 the highest it can go but am I just multiplying the "negative" aspects too? Or is it just one time when you start that level of module? Do I need to get the G5 to the top or am I just wasting materials for only a tiny percentage of extra stats?

Have a play about with this:

Boost problem: Depends how you've engineered your distributor.

One you start engineering a certain level, you immediately get the full negatives, anything after that is just positive.
Then if you go to the next level, same thing again.

A lot of folk don't bother wasting mats on that last couple of %.

Ship module slot sizes for your ship are visible in outfitting.

So, you modified it to lower the overall/engine capacity to the point where you cannot store enough power to boost? That's impressive. You can strip of the modifications in the outfitting menu, but you should maybe store for use on another ship and fit a proper one? I recommend you try test builds on one of the available sites. I use coriolis.io.

Edit: what he said.

It can in fact fit a 4A. When you bought it, it should have come fitted with a 4E.

The one you actually want depends on what you want to do with the ship.

No your distributor will be fine, just engineer it once with a different blueprint and it will strip off your current engineering, then you can start again and avoid the problem. You can swap and change any module between different blueprints as many times a you like, it will just strip off the engineering from the previous blueprint.
