I paid 30 million for a seized ship after a mission on foot

After a few years of inactivity and having a new pc, I return to elite dangerous. I take my federal corvette and go down to a planet to do a simple assassination mission for the first time. I park outside the settlement and enter on foot. I locate the target and go for it. Inside the building I make a mistake and hit number 2, unintentionally deploying the gun and then everyone starts shooting at me and kills me. I show up at a respawn center and they say my ship is impounded and I have to pay... 30 MILLION if I want to release the ship! Is there any way to avoid this? Do they release it on their own over time? My biggest crime was pulling out a gun and they charged me 30 million. The desire to play again is removed.
Any tips to avoid these unknown to me odyseey craziness?

thank you commanders

Do not get caught. Take an APEX. I would add dismiss your ship (use a disposable SRV as a surface refuge), but I do few assassinations, rarely get caught/imprisoned so cannot confirm whether this works or not.

Use a small ship. They are ideal for Odyssey missions. iEagle with a SRV bay, Cobra, all with good speed to aid your getaway. And CHEAP!

Can you confirm that the 30 million was not the rebuy?

You'll just have to chalk that one up to experience. Sure, you as a player didn't intend to fire your weapon, but your character did.

Other than that, large ships are cumbersome for Odyssey mission hopping. They take longer to land, require bigger flat surfaces and are more easily targeted by base forces if thing goes south.

There is no need to use the SRV or dismiss your ship though. A small ship can use buildings of the base as cover, minimizing both the fuzz of landing and distance you have to walk.

That's hardly craziness. They've destroyed (or seized) a ship belonging to a criminal (sure they can get little too jumpy when you produce a gun).

Other than flying smaller and cheaper ship, just dismiss it after landing. It will not get shot at when you'll do your thing.

You're allowed one free deploy of your weapon. Pulling out a weapon a second time (even having the energy tool on the illegal overcharge setting) will result in them shooting at you.

I found that myself after constantly switching ships between missions. One mistake and it was over 50 million to get them all out of impound. Live and learn I thought.

Personal preference now is one of a Courier, Viper mk4 or Cobra. I still use my Clipper, but that's because the 5 million if I had to get that out of impound gives some jeopardy without being ridiculous (and because I just want to).

Ships like the Imperial Courier and even Viper MKIV are popular for use as Odyssey on foot mission transport. Something small, fast with decent shields and/or hull that can carry an SRV or 2. I'm not a fan of the Cobra MKIII in this role as landing on lumpy ground after recalling it can result in the SRV getting stuck under the belly of the ship.

Thanks to all commanders. They have been very helpful. It has already become clear to me that I should do missions on foot with small ships just in case, with srv.

It may be the buyback price, but the concept was that my ship was kind of hijacked.

I didn't know about pulling out the weapon twice, they had warned me 1 times several minutes ago, it's true. I'm going to give it other opportunities to see if I'm capable of accomplishing the mission.

Thanks and good flight!
