i played skyrim, I know mods aren't that difficult to make.

..that's why I'm kind of unforgiving . we had complete amateurs making all sorts of mods for skyrim.

so why can't FD mod it's own game a bit at a time. ...like adding thargoid interdiction, which would be a small MIRACLE for the game, would probably be a pretty easy to code in. right? You already have the code for npc interdiction. ...now just make it a thargoid.

I don't have any experience myself, but I really can't imagine it would be difficult.

where does fdev throw all of it's money??
 
Skyrim isn't Multiplayer game
I enjoy mods and modding myslef, but modding is usually out of the question for MMO games, especially one like Elite that is supposed to take place in shared galaxy whether you play solo, or not. Modding could be like hacking, giving unfair advantage to players using mods.

Also... You're obviously new to the game. Give it time. Fly around Pleiades. Thargoid might yet find you...

the horrendous neglect and apparent lazy incompetence is unforgivable. I look back on the fact that the game has been out already for 5 years? and this is all that has been done? Even the simplest of things can't be figured out? (do I really have to tell you that thargoid space should be dangerous?)

and when I look at the other projects completed in lieu of ED development? roller coasters??

I think I'm pulling out , not investing any more time in this game. It is clear as day that the devs have no interest in their own game.
 
The Elder Scrolls game engines are moddable because of the modular nature of the game files, and it was coded to be that way. Bethesda had to engineer those games to process plugin files and be able to read .BSA archives and loose files. As an amateur game programmer myself, I can say with authority that it takes A LOT more time and effort to create a moddable game infrastructure like this than to just write a basic game.

The entire process is different. Bethsoft actually codes the engine and Creation Kit, and uses the CK (Geck, Construction Set, whatever) to make the game with. It's not something that you can just apply to any game.

Being rude is unlikely to convince the devs to invest time in your feature requests.

Being rude while aggressively bragging about your ignorance is unlikely to convince the community to listen to you either.

Games are made by people. Those people have made something in a way you can’t see, and with priorities that may not match with your own. Don’t treat those people poorly if you want them to see things your way. Try to understand why things are the way they are before you ask for them to change. Don’t assume the worst. Be kind to the people who made something you feel invested enough in to spend time complaining about it on the forums.

So after admitting you know nothing about game developing and you ignorance on the subject, you accuse Fdev of being lazy.

Have you not experienced the huge amount that has been added to the game already.

Yeah, we are all wanting more development but FD already set expectations that their focus is the major update for late 2020. Regards Coasters and other games, the R&D and tool updates flowing from Coaster and other game's mechanics will speed similar code in ED. For example the modelling of large crowds moving around in Planet Coaster could feed into less time to code for EVA/Elite Feet crowds. Having an efficient NPC crowd system is needed to allow many NPC to be visible on-screen at once. FD is clever like that, for example with the Thargon implementation being low-overhead and providing elegant results. Procedural animation learning from Planet Zoo and the other games development has to provide some synergy and advantage.
