I read somewhere that all the Nebulae were already visited?

There are lots of nebulae out there. I was just thinking about this myself - I'm about 15kly out of Sol right now, and though I don't feel like actually counting, it's a totally reasonable guess that I can see over 50 of them in one spin of my Asp. While it's certainly possible that every nebula in the galaxy has been visited, it'd be pretty surprising to me.

Id love to be able to jump from ship view. Click a different key and it lockz the star you are looking at. Then you can jump if its in range :)

Yeah, if stellar forge spat out 100's of billions of stars, it seems to me it likely generated millions of nebula. So far players haven't even charted a million star systems so.

But probably all the big pretty marquee nebulae recreated from real life observation have been visited...

Does the Stellar Forge actually create nebulae? Or are the ones in the game just those from RL? One thing I do know is that there are quite a few 'real' nebulae and other phenomena that aren't in ED.

The ED galaxy gets most major nebulae right, I spent a lot of time googling nebulae then searching them in game. However, my guess is that there are a lot of nebulae on the other side of the galaxy that are both unvisited and randomly generated.

I'd imagine all the little 'poof' type nebula are procedural, like the dark blots you can see from any galactic arm as you move towards the core in the galaxy map.

Now, the huge colorful ones are all cherry picked from RL and made with custom overrides I guess, and since it wouldn't be feasible to hand-make all observable phenemona many RL specimens are indeed missing.

There are lots of stars in each nebula, not everyone visits them all. And whilst some are pretty or look really intetrsting like SADR with the big supergiant in the centre they're actually pretty meh once you're in it. I found more Earth-likes for example traveling between nebulae so it depends on whether you're going for the scenery or for the glory ;)

I'm on my way back from a nebula with a non-procedural name which didn't have any 'discovered by' tags on it. It's pretty remote..! I'm aalllly hoping I get the discovery credit. That would be cool. Still got around 14,000Ly to go though before I get back to populated space. Still on 96% hull...

All the nearby ones have been explored quite thoroughly. Most of the further ones on your side of the galaxy also have been visited, even remote ones like the Heart and Soul nebulas. However, not every star in all of them have been visited yet, and in-between you will constantly find systems that haven't been explored as well.

If you use this site http://dump.bass-speaker.com/discovery.php you can search for different stars and see if they have been visited (the data is only valid to a few weeks ago though, so things will have changed).

Or you can set yourself a real journey and travel to one of the far arms of the galaxy. Be sure to pack a thermos though before you do. It will be a long journey.

Nebulae are nice easy things to aim from, and also they can be quite pretty, so it stands to reason that explorers will gravitate to them. I find myself heading towards them and giant stars because they're only things that really stand out on the galaxy map.

My favorite way to explore is doing tours of all the known Nebulae. Pretty much all the real Nebulae have been partially explored, you have thousands of stars in the large ones so I doubt they have all been mapped.

If you cruise around the Galaxy map you will an insanely huge amount of procedurally generated Nebulae, they are everywhere, some are very stunning. No way have all of those been visited.

Well, some people seem to be able to play ED practically 24/7, and if they happen to be explorers, I'm sure they've managed to visit quite a few nebulas. But all of them? Even all the procedurally generated ones? I don't think so!

My guess is that all of the ones we can see from earth have been visited, but a proportion of those generated in the rest of the galaxy (which is most of it, and it's likely that the nebular density is fairly similar in all of the arms) have yet to be stumbled upon, let alone visited. I think in one of the recent newsletters there was the statement that at the current rate of exploration there was 150,000 years left until every star has been visited. Nebulae are much rarer, much bigger, but it's doubtful all the in-game ones have been visited yet.
