I really don t understand Powerplay...I think I am going to forget about it

I am with Winters
I fly to Zachary's space and get interdicted by police for being with Winters
I kill them, they poof and give no points or bounty
I then interdict NPCs labelled as Enemy
I kill them...poof nothing, no points no bounty no nothing

Further more I can t see anywhere were are my merit points

Why am I not getting merit points for killing Zachary people

I am done with this Powerplay stuff, it is just a waste of time and is not worth it
Cooldowns on how many cargo you can grab, points grind being screwed up etc... not fun, I left wow because of the grind and EVE because I was tired of waiting for timedgates

Back to exploring on my own until you guys make this worthwhile or at least interesting

Yep and if you kill an enemy I believe you should be awarded 15 points
I did two hours of transporting propaganda for about 60 points...totally not worth the time

All you need to know about Power Play to rank up:

-Undermine if you are poor and want rank up quickly
-Only do deliveries if you are stinking rich (as in, you have an extra 100M Cr rotting in the bank)
-Winters faction bonuses offer you zero personal benefits. Influence perk is negligible and gives you ZERO money

To be clear, killing the enemy in your own territory gives you ZERO merits. If they have accrued a bounty, then you can cash it in. But it is usually about 400CR for NPCs. It can be millions for CMDRs, but that is not a reliable source of income for most players.

Undermining is what I have been doing for the last hour
No points for killing NPCs labelled as enemy
No points for killing NPCs interdicting me for being the wrong faction
No bounties no nothing...just waste of time

As for the benefits of being with Winters it does not matter as I don t care about benefits

Read the power play tab on the map. It will tell which targets are valid. You can't just kill random factions. It has to be representatives of the power controlling the system you are undermining. For Winters the best to undermine is Zaminas systems. Target either her Private Security ships or Torvals Shield, and they give you 15 each.

Be aware, Undermining puts a bounty on YOUR head. There is no bounty for defending your home system. You can only collect bounties by attacking people that are undermining and have bounties on their head. You can defend any PP system, but you'll benefit the most by defending your own systems. There is very little money in it though. You mostly do it for strategy, and pride.

If you need a tutorial friend me in game. I am with Winters and am something of an expert underminer.

Also, check out the pp reddit for winters. Lots of great people there, will help you out.

thanks will look into it
Where does it says to target Zamina's and not Zachary since I always get attacked by Zachary's people in Rhea?

Yea that's the reason I left my power. Like, I am in our controlled system and see a Courier killing our peoples.
Don't bother since I don't get ANYTHING, not even a bottle of dirt for defending our systems. I fly away no matter if it is a palyer or NPC.

Community goals give me more rewards than PowerPlay will ever do. The 50 million reward is stupid due to merit decay. No, I won't spent hours a day to KEEP my rank. If it would be a decay of about 5%-10% I'D be fine. That would be fair and understandable (lower the 50 million credit reward though), but a half? Really? How are you supposed to gain like 5000 merits a week? Let's say I play ED for about 2-3 hours a day. 15 merits for killing an enemy. I lose reputation with this faction, do not get ANY money (and I can refill ammo and repair in their systems?!) and even have to pay for repairs and ammo. Let's say 20 ships per hour. 300 merits. So one hour a day (excluding weekends) are 300 times 5. 1500 merits. And the half is already lost.

Community goals here I come. I got my FDL with community events, not with PowerPlay, nor will any small ship pilot spending less than an hour a day for PowerPlay ever get a FDL faster than with community goals.

One thing: Can enemy NPCs please go to solo and interdict other NPCs? 'Cause they are wasting my time with their pathetic interdictions. Accept interdiction, recharge, jump out. Mosquitos everywhere.

Zachary and Winters are both in the Federation so they are related Powers. You can pirate ships of related Powers but if you blow them up you get reprimanded and possibly even lose merits.

PP is too boring and utterly unsuited to the casual player. I gave up on this (and the game) after 1.3 patch 1.

Hudson's men shouldn't be interdicting you...unless it's just a routine "scan" (and by "scan" I mean "interdict you, then fly around and do nothing" - I think something might not be working right there ;) ), in which case they shouldn't be shooting you up unless you're doing something naughty.

Check your status...when you enter Hudson's space, does it come up as "Hostile"? It shouldn't, but it should when you enter Imperial space, or space owned by Delaine, or sth similar. But basically, Hudson's ships shouldn't be attacking you if you're pledged to Winters. I'm a Winters person too, and I've never had any problem with Hudson's men.

Also, I think you only get PP vouchers if you blow up enemy ships in their own space. You don't seem to get anything if you attack them in your space - they're supposed to get Wanted status for attacking you, but for some reason they don't.

Best plan

Aim for middle ranking rating.... 3 or 4

These are the easiest to maintain.. contrary to the forum hawks advise..... if you are low on weekly game playing time.. the only way of doing rating 5 merits is to drop huge amounts of Cr's to attain and then maintain rating 5. Cue the poster that says you can do 1k merits in 1 hour.... it's bull :D

Sitting around afk with a script running collecting merits every 30 minutes seems pointless and if you are present.... just plain boring

With no overall command and control... a few groups try on reddit etc but most of it is ignored ..... stick with your own plan....

To date most success has been achieved by luck rather than judgement and organised groups doing last minute raids with ships stuffed full of whichever item is required, dependent on PP faction, brought with cash

In summary do a little and then play your own normal game

enjoy ! :)

Well it seems I shouldn have shot Zachary's people even when THEY were the ones shooting me and were labelled ENEMY in red

I lost all the merits I farmed all day after shooting 6 ships
This system is not intuitive, the galaxy map showing powers is not intuitive
I still have no idea where I can see my merits without having to dock and talk to a contact
I know I am a noob but this is just not user friendly.
I don t want to have to steal cargo which I can t do, why can t I just blow up ships from any enemy faction? They are enemies aren t they?
Why is it so hard to find a place to blow up enemies...I went to Zamina's system and none of the ships are shown as enemy or hint that I should be shooting them

Why on earth is this so complicated? I m taking org chem this summer and it seems a walk in the park compared to Powerplay

Personally, I don't think any power member should be Hostile to any other, regardless of empire, fed, etc., unless those two powers are specifically in an At-War state.

I think PP needs to be fleshed out more with various undermining and control activities towards other powers, depending on what their State is with that Power.

For example, if Hudson and Winters are in a Peace state, then there should be no Combat options for undermining, prep, etc. - they should be only trade, diplomatic, smuggling type of activities. If they are in a War state, then the type of activities that can be performed (without gaining bounty) should include combat.

In addition I think player votes (nominations as they are currently called) should be expanded to include voting on these types of things... should we go to war with Patreus? etc. More can be done to flesh out PP and make it "fit better" within the galactic political landscape.

With regards to undermining, I haven't seen anyone post a correct response. You do have to be in a sector that an enemy faction is attempting to fortify. To find which ones qualify, go to any enemy faction's page in the galactic powers display, and select control. This will display all the systems that can be undermined. Within any of these systems, ANY opposing faction ship that is destroyed, whether or not it belongs to the host faction, is worth 15 merits, and a very small amount of cred. This may be an error, and may be corrected in future to only be the ships that belong to the host faction, but for the time being this seems to be how it works.

I am not sure if Hudson ships count for Winters commanders, or vice versa, but go to an empire, alliance or independant faction system and you probably won't have to worry about it.

The most I have earned, solo undermining in an hour was 480, but 300 is closer to an average. I have been told that if you are winged up the spawn rates increase and you can average double that.

That should not be happening if you're pledged to Winters. I'd report it as a bug, with screenshots, because something's wrong there if Hudson's ships are shooting you up.

Maybe you just got unlucky. Enemy ships will have specific names like "Torval's Shield", "Aisling's Guardian", etc. Hang aroudn long enough in an enemy controlled system and one will show up eventually. I'm finding no shortage of enemies to interdict/be interdicted by.
