So I've been playing this game for almost a month on Xbox. Even got a few friends to buy it, too. Before that last major update, there was not much to do. Collect a few missions, mindlessly mine, kill a few mindless enemies. Rinse. Repeat. Tedium was beginning to set in.
Then this massive update was unleashed. Cleaner mission board, better outfitting UI, community missions, a real sense of purpose.... Then the uncanny AI begun to rain on my space parade. I know that this has been a hot topic on these forums since the update. I've been lurkin' .... hard. Now I want to chime in after the small change was added(relinquishing all engineer mods).
Let me begin by saying I'm not ill advised when it comes to dogfighting #mikevick It's the butter to my freeze dried bread, but when you are constantly being attacked by Top Gun trained Mavericks. Bounty hunting soon becomes a chore when I have to shoot a few shots just to aggro and quickly retreat to the safety of the Security Force to assist me in battle. It seems nearly impossible to outrun, out-manuvear, or even outlast the simplest 1v1. At least for the average player, i.e. does not possess the best ships/weapons/skill. It soon became apparent that every member on this forum, who were happy with the super A.I., already had all the best ships, upgrades, and plenty of practice. I ask those members, what about your fellow CMDRs that don't have everything you do? Let me guess "git gud and git it" right? I believe the A.I. should be re-tooled so they can make mistakes, like humans, and give us a better window to react. Always being trained on my and never giving me any quarter is absolutely relentless, brutal, and just plain mean. I suggest a balance lie somewhere between these new God-esque pilots and the old dumb as rocks A.I., just my two cents.
All in all, i have every intention to git gud. I really do enjoy this adventure. I only ask the dev's to keep your newer crowd in mind during future updates. This insane A.I. flight skill seems to only cater to your hardcore audience. This game has so much potential and needs to continue to grow. How can it when you introduce God-like A.I. and scare away future CMDRs?
