ASP is still and always will be my aspirational vessel. Unfortunately I dont have the money to afford one right now. Maybe after this exploration...
If you learn how to time your FSD charge from inside the corona while scooping, you can complete a jump cycle in about 1 minute in an DB Explorer. This means that a ~34 LY range DBX can jump 1000LY in about 32 minutes. But this is still surprisingly slow compared to other ships.
For comparison:
1000LY jump times by ship:
Asp: 24 minutes ~31 jumps
Cobra: 32 minutes ~41 jumps
DBE: 32 minutes ~32 jumps
DBS: 35 minutes ~36 jumps
Notice how the Cobra covers the same distance as a DB Explorer in the same time even though it is doing about 9 more jumps! This is because it can scoop much faster. But the important thing to note is that this increases your exploration income by 28% because you get CR for D Scanning each system you pass through!
So my advice would be to keep the Cobra until you can afford an Asp. You'll make considerably more money and you'll go just as far just as fast as the yellow bug shaped tug boat. And you'll look much cooler while doing it in a Cobra.
Also, your data is much safer in a Cobra due to its remarkable speed in normal space and it's low profile during escape jumps.
You forgot to mention how horrifyingly ugly the cockpit of the DBE is. In case, you know, aesthetics come into the equation for you at all.![]()
With that avatar?! What about that hot blonde you're helping out - the one with that funky looking octagonal ship?Haha, thanksDon't worry, I have no immediate plans to defect to the Thargoids.
With that said and not to get mega off topic im considering getting a DBS to bounty hunt in. Not sure if it will be good though.
