Powerplay I require Pack Hound Missiles for my Python

Greetings!

About 30 minutes ago I've binge watched a series of videos showing the Pack Hound Missile Racks on multiple ships, and I've decided I should get some for my Vindicator.

I know I need to pledge to Li-Yong-Rui, reach rank 2, then wait 4 weeks and kill opposing ships until I get 750 merits and get to rank 3, then rank up and purchase the missiles.

Question is, what's the fastest way to get 750 merits without wanting to self destruct out of boredom and lack of patience?

Well, I've got 5 million lying around, but since I used 22 mil on a Type 7 just for this CG I'll sell it and have more than 35 million.

Is that about enough?

I know you can deliver a metric load of powerplay cargo to expanding/preparing/fortifying systems for merits, but how much money will that take to get to 850, which is what I need for rank 3?

Skip the step with rank 2. You simply need to get to 750 merits during week 3. Then when week 4 comes around you will get rank 3 and be able to buy the pack hounds.
Quickest way for you would be to go to a control system belonging to another power, preferable a control system with an Anarchy government, and do undermining. Basically interdict and kill ships belonging to other powerplay powers. Each kill is 30 merits. About an hour - maybe hour and a half - of this will get you to 750 merits.

You can buy merits buy fast tracking cargo, but that is not a method that would be feasible in your case. 750 Merits will cost you about 7.5 Million credits. Its pocket money for some, but since you only have 35 million I suggest the undermining method. It wont cost you anything.

If you're going to undermine just for grinding for unique modules, please don't completely undermine a system up to 100%. LYR is trying to be neutral and messing up other factions' systems would cause diplomatic problems. Pick systems that are under 50% and move on to something else if it gets too high.

A good target would probably be Archon Delaine systems, they're at war with everyone, like PvP fights, their systems are far from LYR and are mostly anarchy. You'd get 30 PP merits every PP affiliated ship you destroyed in a Control system (look at the Control Tab). Hand in your bonds as you get them so it's "open". LYR is not allied with a super power (alliance/federation/empire) so those ships don't count, while they would in other factions.

Hope this helps.

No, we're not at war with everyone. In fact, the only current conflict is a prep war with a bunch of rogue Aisling players who don't listen to their coordinators, but even in this case we're just defending our territory.

Oh. I was looking at the ceasefire between Archon & Denton thread and it seemed that it wasn't well received. Ailsing supporters do seem to be random which is a bit sad, but then that's probably because that faction is the only supplier of green shields. Announcerer seems to be a module grinder so I was hoping to limit the amount of damage he'll do.

So much would be solved if there were black markets to buy PP modules at, people would join factions because they wanted to, not because they wanted to grind randomly during the 4 weeks to get the module then leave.

I'd like to thank everyone for their replies, I have decided to wait for Tuesday of week 3, then deliver 750 tons of Sirius Expansion Data and advance to rank 3, then buy the missiles for my Python.

I will also purchase some Vipers and put missiles on them, incase I want to outfit other ships.

I would remain with LYR, but I prefer to stay independent.
I don't like to be hostile in systems, and I'd rather just be neutral.
