I require some help concerning edfx 3.0.1.5 , Reshade and GraphicsConfiguration.xml

I am using Edfx 3.0.1.5 , Reshade 2.0.3.1121 and have tweaked graphicsconfiguration.xml
So i am asking the following questions :
1) after 2.3 update my modified graphicsconfiguration.xml will reset its settings to default (main i changed number of stars and texture sizes)
2) after searching i found out that there is Reshade 3.0.6. How do you update proper to this version ? are there any display difference , performance etc ?
3) if edfx 3.0.1.5. and Reshade 3.0.6 going to work with 2.3 update when it's released? do we have to install them again ?

Don't know about the utilities you refer to, but back up your config files before the update so that you can reapply any changes as necessary.

Generally graphicconfiguration is controlled by the game now, you want to use the 'override' file instead.
it should be called GraphicsConfigurationOverride.xml

I believe it should be located in the proper appdata location rather then in game library.

reshade 3 isn't compatible to EDFX 3, I am assuming we need a new EDFX 4 for that :)

I was using a modified graphics override xml, which was initially a copy of the graphicsconfiguration.xml which I then removed all xml which was not overridden, I used this mostly for better nebula visibility, small amendments to the star fields and galaxy map and planet textures etc. But to be honest I am far happier with what I gain from EDFX3, I didn't remove my graphics override file but I presume they have no to little effect now, hard to tell....

After using it for some time, turning it off makes the game feel just plain wrong, the colours are just too vibrant and seem unreal and the textures not textured enough if that makes sense

If you've not given it a go for a while I suggest you give it more time before doing anything else, I run it using interstellar mid black, seems a nice compromise for an good all around effect

1) See above.
2) Just paste and overwrite the old files by new ones.
3) Depends whether the update will wipe the game folder or not. I'd copy them over once the game is updated. The worst thing that can happen that you overwrite them. As for the functionality, I don't think 2.3 will be fundamentally different when comes to graphics, shaders and stuff, so they should work. If not, someone will update them, eventually.

I am running the same EDFX 3 settings and graphics overrides on both production and beta btw, works just the same. After install you may need to reapply the settings through EDFX against the game files to re-install the reshader files but that should be it.

Like has been said you should use an override and not edit the main file, should be placed somewhere like here: C:\Users\<USERNAME>\AppData\Local\Frontier Developments\Elite Dangerous\Options\Graphics\GraphicsConfigurationOverride.xml, just copy the main file you edited to this new name and location and put the original non-override file back in place.

If you make sure you are using a override xml to override defaults rather than editing the main xml file then this will carry over to 2.3 also, as it's in a common location. I use this method and it applies to both my account installs (I have 2 accounts with 2 separate sets of launcher/main game files).

If you find new settings you want to override then you can always copy over just the xml sections you're interested in...my override is not a copy, it's a cut down version with commented out original sections and modified replacements only (here's it's contents: https://pastebin.com/raw/NiNviv3j)

Just to re-iterate, EDFX 3 is made to work with reshader 2.x, I'd wait for a newer EDFX version that supports later reshader versions and stick with 2.x for now
