I run from aulin to LHS 3006 in one warp and then it cuts out my route back?

Did you pick up cargo? Your laden jump range is smaller than unladen. Check out your ship specs in Outfitting or alternatively use the slider in the Galaxy map that shows you routes based on your cargo cap from empty to full.

ahh I get it now.. Anyway I can put a mod on my ship? my max is 4 cargo.. I am screwed huh I have to dump my cargo?

There are a number of ship modifications that affect your jump range, weight also being one. When I was starting in the Sidey I used a lot of D-rated kit, as it's not the most powerful but it is the least heavy. You can squeeze a few more LY out of it just with good weight reduction. Cargo racks come in various sizes, but not all of them fit into every ship. I'm running twin 16's plus a single 4rack on my Cobra right now.

Is your route back too far for a mission timer or are you cut off completely from getting back to where you were?

It just would of taken me an hour to get back in real life time!! dont have time for that. the mission was only for 20k!

You'll probably get a fine for abandoning, and then your haulage will now be stolen cargo. Either find a station that has a black market (in Contacts at the station if it has one) and then abandon your mission there (and sell your now-stolen loot), or alternatively dump it in space away from a station so you don't get a "littering" fine too. Note you can't dump or sell your Haulage till you abandon the mission.

After that, just check out what kinds of routes you can ply with your current ship at max cap, with the Galaxy map. It'll give you an idea of what kinds of ranges you're working with, and then just make sure you can get back to where your mission is. I pulled a lot of fast-one-way, long-back-way missions before I could work myself into a larger ship with better range, but there are plenty of binary-system trade runs that can be found even inside a relatively small jump range.

there are a few items on your ship you can sell to get your weight down and increase your jump range, shields and weapons both add weight and although a risk you can do without them for a couple of jumps.
