I don't know if I still count as a newcomer; I've been playing for a year, but I didn't play between mid january and this week so...
Anyway, I'm in the midst of my first REAL long distance journey, out to colonia. I'm currently docked at Gagarin Gate, so still two legs ahead of me. I have made MANY first discoveries along the way and seen some wonderful things, but I was in awe the other day when I witnessed a coronal mass ejection right in front of me! I'm sure many will scoff as I gather these are fairly regular occurrences, but it still blew me away that such attention to detail has been added by the developers.
I know it's "cool" to moan about the game on the forum, but honestly I can't find anything to moan about - I mean I would like it if there were things to find on the rocky bodies I land on other than rocks, I guess (I'm aware of the ruins closer to home, but I'm thinking of crashed ships, messages left by explorers in the middle of nowhere etc etc), but I also appreciate that this isn't "Starflight" and it's supposed to be realistic, so I can't really complain there. I'm STILL loving it. I recently discovered Sidewider Radio, which is pretty fun to listen to while I travel, but most of my journey thus far has been spent listening to the audiobook of "His Dark MAterials" by Philip Pullman. Christmas is traditionally a bad time of year and I'm having a lot of difficulty at work right now, so I find travelling into the unknown while listening to stories and making my own discoveries to be very helpful. Elite Therapy if you will.
Of course as always, I'm blogging my antics (link in my signature, plenty of screenshots).
Anyone else have stories to share about things they've seen in game which made them say "woah"? I mean, seeing my first White Dwarf and Neutron Star were both great experiences, I'd love to hear from others. The CME was something that STILL amazed me even when I thought I'd seen a lot of what the game had to show me. So I guess I'd like to hear from newbies and those seasoned vets lurking on this forum.
