Horizons I seem to have a problem, a BIG one, any ideas?

I have been playing this game for some 30 months on and off but only upgraded to Horizons about a week ago, in all this time I have never had a criminal record anywhere. At the time I fitted a bay for a Scarab and bought one but for some reason I was unable to deploy it. Today having just finished a delivery in a planet I took a peek to see if I could deploy the Scarab which I did. I had a fun time zipping around until I decided to go back to the ship. Before going back I decided to drive up the slope to where my ship was, to look at it from the outside, of course I did not realise that the ship was now in the hanger until I got up top. Ok I explored the upper section a little bit until I got stuck on a ledge unable to move. I then started clicking buttons to see if anything would do anything (desperation). I clearly pressed the fire button as I fired a shot which hit the top of the base. This was unexpected as I was not used to being able to fire without deploying weapons first. Of course the station then opened fire on me with the weakest pulse lazers imaginable and they took ages to destroy the Scarab. Ok I thought at least I get out of the situation of being stuck as at this time I was also getting warned for loitering, I can always buy another Scarab, they don't cost much. I was trying to see if I could pay a find anywhere to absolve me of my accidental crime but was unable to find anything.

Having been teleported back to my ship, and I guess most of you already know the outcome and what I am going to say, the second the ship came out of the hanger the bases weapons opened fire on me with the kind of fire power I am more used to, and took me out in a flash. New ship having been bought with my insurance premium, I am of course back inside my ship in the hanger and I have no way to take off as I will just be blasted out again. What do I do?

I'm not understanding something. If they already killed you, then you're no longer wanted. Why can't you take off?

Look in contacts in the station to see any fines you have, ages since I had anything like this but it may have changed to a legacy fine or be gone. If it's a legacy fine just pay it and if gone you're in the clear.

Yes that was the first place I looked and there was nothing to pay anywhere

I have not tried to take off a second time, expecting the same situation as the first. If you are saying that I am now clear of the crime and will be left in peace, then I will put the incident down as a costly learning experience and happily go about my business. Have I understood you correctly? Thanks

I think you're in the clear but go to the station menu and look in contacts to make sure you don't have any outstanding fines first, just to be sure.

When you have problems like that on a planet, you can always escape to safety by logging out and restart in ED instead of Horizons, which puts you in orbit away from the planet.

Well, I got wanted the other day when I was exploring a planetary base in my SRV. In my case, I was playing with the camera and I managed to block a pad long enough to get a loitering bounty. The station blew up my SRV and I was then wanted. As I flew out I was scanned and they attacked me. But after my ship was destroyed I was no longer wanted. Sounds pretty similar.

Simple, he's afraid of being blasted again.

OP - worry not, you're clear now as you paid your *major* offence with your blood already.

Thing was: you fired a weapon in no-fire-zone which is against the rules. You got fined and earned a "wanted" status. As you got back to your ship after Scarab destruction it didn't cleared fine and wanted. So when you took off you were scanned, fine and wanted status confirmed - fire at will. And you got blasted to pieces. And that cleared your fine and wanted.

What you needed to do before taking of was to enter station services, contacts tab and search for local police officer. There you'll find your fine which you could pay off. And then safely take off. Other option was to take off, silent run before exiting station and boost the hell out of there. But fine and wanted remains in that system so you still need to clear that off - in another system controlled by that faction. Fine stays but at least you won't be wanted and shoot at immediately. Just avoid being scanned upon entering.

As a cheer up story - I had similar situation. I got blasted by a station for ram-killing a pirate that was trying to interdict me. He, sadly for me, dropped SC 5m in front of me while I was 3 km away from a station. Due to mine speed being over 100 m/s and lack of space to maneuver I rammed him and, surprisingly, killed. Take that filthy pirate. Well, station didn't like it and blasted me out of the sky. I rebought ship and since it was a station I wanted to dock my small fleet I decided to leave current ship docked and go for other in a Sidewinder. Totally forgot that I need to pay fines first. Got into Sidewinder, left station just to be blown again. Luckily for me it was just a Sidewinder so unintentionally I Suicidewindered my fines...

Did something similar myself yesterday ...

Correct. Check your HUD (above your pips). My guess is that it no longer says WANTED.

Yes I think a lot of these unfortunate incidences are to be taken as some kind of 'rite of passage' :)

I had one a week ago when I lost my ship, I was smiling while in the middle of a dog fight in which I clearly had the upper hand, when my Malware program decided to tell me it had blocked an attempt by Skype to contact an outside address (or something). I heard a beep, the screen went black as the firing continued, then it minimised as the little malware program proudly displayed its little pop up window. Having closed this and clicked on the ED tab again, waiting for the screen to come back while still hearing shots hitting the hull, and cursing my little protector under my breath. When everything again appeared before my eyes I was still alive, but now no real chance to do anything to save the ship. I put that down to a rite of passage and made sure that could not happen again.

Its all part of the fun :)

No the bounty don't go away if the station shoots you.
Once I was killed twice at a station, because the bounty (I hit the station hard and destroyed a light) didn't go away after I died when the station shot me, but it just stayed a week.
Then it was cleared .

If you are clear on the Transactions menu on the left panel and the Ship Cargo on the right menu panel (for those items interdictors love) then you should not have any issues taking off from a planetary base. Even if there are issues multiple boosts to quickly get out of system authority ship scans then high wake ASAP always works. Info from my sordid smuggling days in the past.

Log out of Horizons to the launcher.

Launch ED x64

Spaaaacccceee!

Sorry I should have mentioned a few posts ago, that I took Artigan99's advice and assumed that having been killed I was then clear of the crime, so I took off from the station a second time without incident. Pity it does not restore the lost standing with some factions. I will just remember for the future that when in the Scarab, the laser is ready deployed.

LOL! I've had simillar things happen to me in other games in the past, so now my main criteria for any security program is a game mode where it doesn't interrupt my game. The actual security atributes come second :)

Also keep a set of heatsinks on your ship, if you get the scan message pop one and it will nearly always interrupt the scan unless they are practically on top of you distance wise.
