I sincerely hope...

...that we won't be spammed wherever we go by NPC pirates. I can't remember the name of the game that did just that a few years ago but GOD, it got old real quick.

I'd hope that the chances of pirate encounters would be similar to Elite. If you stay on the beaten track of lawful systems with strong governments, you'll be fairly safe. If you decide to hang around in anarchic systems, expect to see the jolly rodger a fair bit.

The point is that in the vastness of space, without god-like scanners, they'd never find you. The game I mentioned, the code simply cheated and spawned them right in your face, no matter where you were. It sucked a large amount of wad and the disc went frisbee pretty fast.

That won't happen in this case as most people wont have a disk to throw :) - only unsafe systems will have pirates and all the core systems will be overrun by police so if you don't like pirates, you will most likely be scanned by police, if you don't like the police, the pirates will be after you in anarchic systems and if you want a bit of quiet, try sneaking into system that is between the core and the frontier and you may encounter either and for those that want solitude, go exploring into unknown territory.

The game, once out, should be as hard as you make it. Want the easy life?-- stick to trade routes and safe systems. Ignore missions and just be a trader. Or once outfitted and ready, go look for trouble. Or, just go look for trouble day one.... or accept some missions, look for small trouble and trade to outfit your ship slowly. I think there will be plenty of options.

I have no proof, but I doubt they will be over spawning pirates in safe systems or near patrols/stations. Certainly not 'in your face'. If they do, just run. All pips to engines and jump. Big danger will be coming across the other commanders.

Well, that sounds fine. If I go well off the beaten track not a soul should find me then. :)

Except the other people who want the quiet life :)

They have also tweaked the frequency of encounters. Tbh I think they have it too low as I can frequently make it through the anarchic system without getting intercepted

The way that supercruise works means that pirates only interdict you reasonably close to points of population - which are close to gravity wells around planets, etc. So in that sense there is no beaten track to go on: it doesn't really matter how you get from where you hyperspaced into the system (probably close to one of the stars in it) to where you are going (say a spaceport), because nothing will interdict you on the journey, no matter where you go. But once you are reasonably close (say within 1LS - about 30,000K) then they may be around, and it does not matter what direction you come from.

This is what everyone's going to NEED to have anyway to get started out, safe systems to trade in. Gotta make money with a POS ship armed with a BB gun before you can get that Cobra, then buy that lass an "iron ass" (from The Dark Wheel).

That people learn the ways of the forum and quit using vague titles as click-bait. I didn't even read the OP because the thread title is meaningless.

Except you can hover your cursor over the 'click bait' and get the gist of the content without having to click at all.
