I sold my Cobra Mk IV. I Miss you.

I played with the new Mk IV for a while.
I now sold it to upgrade it to a DB Explorer (see signature).

Well, I kinda miss it.
Beside the fact that I had to renounce to a scoop and the Frameshift Interdictor for the limited slots, having 3 small guns on the roof instead of 1 big on the belly made also a difference.
In both cases I chose Turret mounts, since they allow me to keep the target under fire when not in sights, but I had two advantages with MK IV.
  1. Having the guns on the roof allowed me to keep my enemy above me and pull my stick to turn while auto-firing. Using attitude thrustsers helped a lot. Now I have to keep it below and push. I think that generally is less intuitive and more difficult.
  2. 3 small turrets worked generally better than a large one.

So even if it's not comparable with the awesome Mk III (it's the same name, but, fact, it's another new ship entirely!) that made it a good mission runner, in my opinion.
What do you think?

The Cobra MkIV is like a Tardis.

Internals.. It's internals all the way down!

See. I get along well with the DBX, although I can't explain why. I have 2 medium multicannon on mine and a large pulse laser and it does quite well in Combat. YOu have to learn your tactics with this ship, though, as it has a particular approach to combat.

i went from a fully upgraded cobra to an asp..
I didnt like the asp at 1st, felt slugish and unresponsive compared to the cobra. but when i had it fully upgraded i loved it..
I think its probably the best ship in the game and well worth staying in the cobra till you can afford one.

i couldnt even trade it in when i bought my python, so i kept it, i found the python kittend out how i have it now. can do the big haull short time robigo runs that do not have a fail when scanned missions..

so i can grab 2 of those for a guaranteed 8 mill (provided i make sure that there is some where like 46 mins available for the missions,
and i can also grab 3-4 of the fail when scanned missions. its less money than just doing a full cargo of fail on scans. but the 8 mill is a guarantee. doing the others as well is a bonus (which i usually manage)

but i still take my asp out to robigo and fill up with as many fail on scans missions as i can for some good fun times being chased adds some exitment.

OT: I always hear about Robigo. But I don't know what's going on in there.
Could you please explain that to me? Is it a Rare good loc? Or a CG in progress?

It's an outpost a long way from occupied space so it has a lot of long-distance, high-payout smuggling and courier missions

To put the "Cobra" name on the "Cobra" Mk IV, is nothing short of disgusting.

Or just the end part; rectum?
Or just what comes out of a sick rectum? :D

Absolutely. A blasphemy for Cobra III, the best ship in the game.
It's just... the name that you all are angry about?
How silly. I thought it was for the ship characteristics...

Ok. My fault. So it really IS a good ship. Only that you don't like the name.
Noted.

Mod. We resolved the dispute, you can close all the MkIV threads :D

cobra is a good starter ship.
probably should be 1st step from a sidewinder. but once you have a fully upgraded asp then you wont miss the cobra any more.
infact after you have a fully upgraded asp its really hard to justify a more expensive ship after it.

Oh, I got myself an A-graded Asp; it certainly is a great boat.
And to A-grade it, I sold my Cobra Mk III.
Now I still have my Asp, but I absolutely had to have my old Cobra Mk III back; I really did miss it.
It is the sports car of ED.
When you boost it out the mail slot, you are ready for the world! :D
To sit in a full blown Cobra Mk III, is very much like sitting in a Chevrolet Camaro SS - V8.
And it kicks ass, just like it. :D

Agreed, on all fronts. Great arc of fire for 3x turrets on the top. I find 3x burst melt the shields of most interdictors just in time for me to get in a good fire position to shed them with the 2x med multi's.

I really like it. Quite fancy giving the Keelback a go, just for a laugh, as its quicker, had more cargo capacity and longer jump range. Anyone know where the hard points are though? Assume smalls are same position as T6?
