I sold my Cobra Mk IV. I Miss you.

the cobra IV is an "old mans ship".

- slow, so you cant crash it by flying too fast.
- cant fight... old man dont fight. maybe they did, when they were younger (or were called III instead of IV)
- full of internals,so an old man has enough storage for all the things he usually carries with him.
- less usefull than his younger version (mk III) (attention.. joke)

So even if it's not comparable with the awesome Mk III (it's the same name, but, fact, it's another new ship entirely!) that made it a good mission runner, in my opinion.
What do you think?
A good mission runner is what I would say too. Thanks to all the internals its very nice to just fly around the galaxy and do all sorts of stuff. Expect heavy combat, for that the ship does not work all that well for me.

Cobra MK4

Seems to me that the point of the Cobra MK4 is lost on a lot of people. It's got a LOT of internals compartments (although typically not of particularly high class). Which means you can fit a lot of "stuff" in there without needing to choose between - for example - discovery scanners, SRV Hanger, FSD interdictor and SCBs etc. And it does that at a reasonable price. It has enough weaponry to defend itself against the majority of threats.

SO, it provides a truly multi-purpose ship and a much-more affordable price than the Asp. It's basically a space Zafira (if that makes any sense), whereas the Cobra MK3 was a space Astra (if that makes any sense).

'Old man DO fight, especially cocky over confident yoofs'

[joke]Cobra Mk III is a "young drug addicts ship" then:-
  • Maybe fast but it is a bit like the anti-Mk IV pilots are addicted to speed
  • Mk IV and Mk III are actually about on-par where fighting is concerned but the Mk IV requires maturity to recognise it's strengths and experience to capitalise on it properly the Mk III by comparison requires less skill and overall is less capable wrt a given pilot who can capitalise on the Mk IV (c/f saying no to drugs because you recognise the advantages of not taking them)
  • Mk III has enough internals to make you think it is multi-purpose but when push comes to shove it fails without on-going maintenance (c/f constant feeding of a drug habbit)
  • Mk IV is more useful than it's younger version once the pilot gets over their Mk III addictions (c/f recovered from with-drawl symptoms)

---
On a more serious note.... The Mk IV relates to the Mk III in a similar vein to how the DBX relates to the DBS.
---
The lighter/cheaper ship is more a dog-fighter while the heavier variant is more what the relevant ship name is purported to be for (multi-purpose in the case of the Cobra range and explorer in the case of the Diamondback range).
---
The Mk III still has some utility even when you have adapted to the Mk IV but the utility is limited by comparison. A bit like taking a sports car (e.g. a Lotus Esprite/Elise/Exige) out for a drive once in a while but you normally drive around in a less sporty but more useful SUV/Estate car (e.g. Landrover/Hummer).
