I sold my Python and I have never been happier

For a while I was working my way up to a Python, seemingly stuck in small ships. Finally got it, upgraded it to be a decent armed trader able to defend itself and do the odd combat zone and yet it never felt quite right.

Last night I decided to sell the Python and bought myself a Federal Assault Ship, upgraded it and I have never been happier.

That FAS is amazing. It handles like a dream, the gun placement is great and it takes anything out with ease. Smuggling and some small haulage is easy. Sure, it overheats like a fat man in a sauna but that's OK with me.

I love my Federal Assault Ship and it has given me a new lease of life in this game, it is once again exciting.

I'm happy for your purchase. :)

But be aware that a good deal of the haulage missions are Python-exclusive, since that is the only ship that can carry that amount of cargo and can land at outposts.

If that isn't an issue, then may i bless the union between you and your FAS. :D

have both and love both. Very different obviously. I mostly take the Python to pirate and the FAS to murder pirates

I have both, FAS is a Sweet Ship it's what the Python was in the being (per nerf ).

Took about a week to learn how to kill one, now they are easy meat for my Python.

Do not get me wrong the FAS is the hardest ships to kill in the hand of a good CMDR.

What's your weapon set up ?

I have all gimballed pulse. Still learning whats the best setup. So far it's proving to be quite good. With the superb manoeuvrability of the FAS I always have at least 1 laser firing and with an A class distributor it just keeps going and going. Biggest ship I have taken so far is a Python and it took about 60 seconds to take it down.

I have both a FAS and Python, chalk and cheese.

My FAS has zero cargo and us used for combat zones, res sites and to assassinate people.
My Python is used for trade (192 tons), surface missions, all trade missions and less dangerous/or I can kill NPCs smuggling missions.
I have Cobra for specialised smuggling.

I relented and put an SRV on the FAS as I am 150LY from home. If I wanted to take the Python into Combat Zones I would spend another 50-75MCr on it (currently 150MCr), which would be too much risk for the mission in my view. Now if it was my only ship, then I would do it.

Never had a FAS....love my Python though, just took it out on an Exploration trip to see how it handles Exploring compared to my trusty Asp

You mean when people complained that its shields are horribly bad and FD is incompetent in releasing a ship that is going to be a failure because of that and should buff them?

Ye...that's just people being what they usually are, nothing changed.

After Horizons landed, FAS was buffed tremendously because of the armor buffs, and it's a very good ship to fly in silent mode. Personally i switched from Clipper to FAS after Horizons.

Have both and love both as well. Just recently upgraded from a Vulture to the FAS for strictly combat and love IT. Running a large beam on top, plasma and 2 cannons on the bottom. Python is just my trading ship 276 tons, and sometimes will swap a cargo rack for an SRV hangar for planetary visits. Both are great ships. Only negative I have was ranking up to get the FAS.
