I was constantly worrying about my costs on the Asp, Insurance is high, parts are high and I could not afford a decent setup to same my life, I mean i could not get it to jump past 20 Ly's because of my budget.
I thought long and hard about it and decided to make the dreadful run to Dalton spaceport to trade her in on a shiny new Diamondback Explorer. Boy what a relief to see the monster difference in insurance. I have her setup for long runs WITH a bit of defense such as 4 shield boosters and some offense like heat seeking missiles paired with twin pulse lasers in case I get interdicted. She handles much the same as the Asp, not all that great, BUT like the Asp, she can take a punch as well a deliver one or two herself.
She can jump OVER 30ly at a time, carries 32T of fuel (same as the Asp) BUT has nowhere near the overheating issues my Asp had when I tried to use the fuel scoop (but to be fair to the Asp, she WAS stock, my DBX is nowhere near stock).
Just for funsies I checked my fuel cost from Dalton to Lave, and after once around the Sun in Lave when I arrived at the dock, it cost me 11 credits to fuel up
I do plan on getting another Asp, but only when I can afford the better Frame Shift Drive, power supply and power distribution systems from the get go. But for now, there nothing like being able to make a 120ly trip in just 4 jumps with a full tank of fuel just once or twice around the sun. Plus the benefit of having credits in my pocket now
P.S. I really like the Asp, I do, it hurt to sell it, BUT not in stock form, an 8-10 mil Asp cannot do what an 8-10 Mil DBX can. I'll buy another after release when I can afford to do her justice with a decent setup.
