It's an escape. For a few hours a week I can be someone else. Somewhere else. Doing things IRL I'll never get to do. To go places I'll never get to go. See things I'll never get to see. It was the same on my Atari 1040 STE. Same now. I may be easily pleased. It ain't perfect, but it's far better than anything I could do. Elite still rocks...
