I Suggest

that I was just coming in for a landing at Love Dock in some system I will probably forget, and something occurred to me. I like to play a little game with the autopilot/docking computer where I get going around 360-400 mps, turn off the pilot assist, initiate a casual multi-axis tumble and then request to dock. This is great fun, and I have to say the autopilot is excellent at handling this situation.

In doing this I realized suddenly that the auto-dock feature of my standard docking computer was off, which happens. I turned it back on, at speed, and contemplated for at least hundreds of picoseconds what would happen if the autopilot failed to take control - given that I had already requested docking, was tumbling with assist off at alarming speed, and was CBDR for a large immovable object of occasionally violent temperament.

This is where something occurred to me. It occurred to me that the Docking Computer is flawlessly designed. It handled the above situation without issue, and has handled innumerable situations of equal idiocy before hand to greater or lesser success, but always better than I would have done.

What if we listed all the flawlessly designed systems present in Elite? I asked myself this, and maybe you share my instantaneous answer "there are too many to count." Kudos, FDev; I suggest that there are flawless designs present, and that is never an accident.
