So I figured I'd give a 9.7G world a try. How hard can it be, right? And off I trotted to HD 148937 3.
I was coming in forwards, slowly, at a very shallow descent, pitch down at 2-3 degrees, figuring I'd gently scrape the shields across the surface before finding a suitable blue circle on which to plummet from a height of 1-2 metres.
Or so I thought.
I wasn't paying attention and accidentally nudged the vertical thrusters (really should have changed their binding for this run...). Next thing I knew I was on my side, on the surface, with no shields and almost 2/3 of my hull gone.
But I survived to tell the tale, and fortunately there was an FC in-system with repair facilities to see me on my way back home to Jameson Memorial.
