General / Off-Topic I swear I knew what the Thargoids looked like, even before the first hyperdictions.

Feel free to dismiss this as drivel. I won't blame you for it.

But I swear I had a dream that I saw pictures of alien ships in Elite, matching near exactly what the Thargoids actually look like today.

Now understand, this isn't the first time I've had dreams come true. I get one or two a year. I see something in a dream. Months later, I bump into it IRL.

I know I sound crazy, and I don't expect anyone to believe me, but well... I had those dreams. Seeing the future is real.

So you are telling me that todays is the first time you've ever seen Thargoid? Yet you are on forum as "Elite" so I do not believe you. Let me tell you, everyday you have seen them, every time you went to any spacedock. IT'S GALNET LOGO! :D

Ha, but seriously. Yes, I have distinct memories of Thargoid-esque ships in front of a star in Elite Dangerous style graphics.

Memories I had before the Thargoid reveal. Obviously I can't prove this, but that's why I'm not demanding you believe me.

Have you been drinking again? :)

But no, I don't believe such a statement, although you might very well believe it yourself for some reason. I am not judging you.

You should have shown us drawings of your dream ships beforehand.
Then you would have convinced me.

Human memory is terribly unreliable.
It is not a recorder of fact. A human memory is constantly edited and adapted.

Fair enough. I'm hardly going to get upset. Still, I know what I dreamed about, and ultimately, that's as far as it can actually go.

The universe is in my eyes, a mystical thing indeed.

Still, I know what I dreamed about,...

But do you?
As I said memories are unreliable.
And this is especially the case when dreams are concerned.
The consolidation of memories takes place during Slow Wave Sleep.
And dreams occur during REM sleep.
Unless you record dreams immediately after waking up your memories of them get distorted or even completely wiped out very quickly.
They never enter long term memory that way.
Most people end up having memories of their memories of their dreams and these memories of memories are easily distorted and warped.

The word 'mystical' holds little meaning for me. In general I have no idea what people mean when they use it.

Most interesting. Suppose I never thought of that.

I still stand by my thoughts though. Maybe I'm unable to perceive it as anything but the truth. But if that is the case, I have no way of knowing. [blah]
