I think Elite needs to go pay to win!!

I mean personally i can't stand the whole concept of it and think it's lame. However if it means the forum is no longer full of all the moaning about grinds, self entitlement and lost progress blah blah then I'm down with it! :D

All those in favour raise your hands. All those against say git gud!!

No. Git gud. :D

(The complaining would only shift from "Waaaaaaaaaaaaaah, Grind." to "Waaaaaaaaaaaaah, they want mah monies.")

I'd certainly pay £5 a month for a forum without trolls, unnecessary whinging and ill-thought-through posts - but definitely not for pay to win.

Um... Git Gud.

If it goes PTW, then the forums will be full of people complaining that it's PTW.
They have more money....
I dont have enough money.....
So and so has this....
I don't have that....

I would play this game if it goes PTW.
I will play it if it doesnt.

I'm a South American drug lord with mountains of money.

After looking at countless threads about grinding, maybe some people need option buy Conda/iCutter for 20e and avoid grind and be happy...

Pay to win isn't possible with Elite, since there isn't a finish line, winning post or end goal.

So what would be the point? Pay to get all the ships? Then what? You've got nothing to work for.

Buy all the Engineer mods? So what? So you can go griefing without consequence?

Elite becomes CQC. Five seconds of fun. Utterly pointless.

No.

Unfortunately we don't have the ability to inject skill right into someone's brain because we do not live in a world where Keanu Reeves is god.

... Or was that 'Fortunately?'

No, all that's needed is a bit of common sense in the design of the game mixed with a few UI additions.
Make it easy for players to see immediately if a system is high sec or low sec. Make this info available in every screen where the player needs to know this info: f.i.: galaxy map, transaction panel, route panel, mission board description.
Optionally, put a warning sign somewhere telling the player when he/she is in a low sec system, or even better: when the next jump is going to a low sec.
Make sure high sec systems have less change of high level agressors (npc's) and the reverse for low sec.
Risk analysis is required now, but it isn't obvious for most players and the info isn't readily at hand where it should be.

Replacing grind complaint threads, with Pay-to-Win threads. It's like one of those choice options of either plague or cholera. :x

Against the proposal.
Of course.

Pay to win is the curse of the modern age, if someone could pay to get to the end all it would do is make the game even more shallow. Yes fdev would get money BUT the gamers who play it will be put off if they are griefed by a pay to win berk who just wants to ruin it for everyone else.
