As anyone who participates in the community challenges knows, for many weeks now there have been animals that are "supposed" to count that do not actually count for challenges. For this week's grassland challenge, Dama Gazelle and Black Rhino don't count even if released at 4 stars and even though they have the grassland biome. For the previous reptile challenge, Asian water monitors didn't count even though they are reptiles. For the challenge before that, African penguins didn't count even though they are endangered.
I have a theory that explains why this is happening.
Animals that are in DLCs that have not yet been released on console do not count.
Black Rhino and Dama Gazelle are Arid DLC. Arid is not on console yet. Asian water monitors didn't count last time (tropical isn't on console yet) and African penguins didn't count the one before that (Africa isn't on console yet).
When the Frontier employee setting up the challenges was setting up this challenge, he or she was doing it on both PC and Console at the same time. When he/she was checking the boxes on which animals to include, the "total" list would have only been the animals available on console, because those are the total options for that version of the challenge. So he/she checked the boxes to include grassland animals, not realizing there are more animals on PC that were missing from the list.
