General / Off-Topic I Think I Need To Retake My English Exam...

Because I somehow got a G... :p

I left school almost 20 years ago (gah, old!), so I imagine a lots changed...

Has anyone else retaken English recently?
Or any stand alone exam?

Been trying to figure out this system for months and it's more confusing that following EDs storyline... Lol

I've gotten as far as finding an exam centre, but then I need to register for my exam, and presumably pay for it. But I don't know what the heck I'm doing!
I don't know what books I need, or what exam I even need to do.

I also need to practice my handwriting, because it's basically chicken scratch...

Left school in '85. Did an access course (gets entry level qualifications for higher education) during 2000/2001. I gained an A* in English Language GCSE.

I hate it when good hand writing is "expected".

I have a perfectly valid and medically accepted cause of shaking hands, and as such can't write on paper very well. It's why I do all my writing on a computer. More efficient anyway.

As for reading skills? Yes, I could certainly improve.

Also be advised that cactuses is now a word.
Crazy but true.
My daughter tripped me up on that this weekend. I didn't believe it until I verified with 3 different dictionaries.
Language changing to lowest common denominator's ability.

Natural selection; has lost it way.

To the O.P. In the U.K. we have the Open University. Which has been running for decades, now on-line of course. Anyway, for a small fee, you can do any basic exam, after they have given you the course work.

I might have to look into that.

Do you also say campi (for campus) when looking at schools?
Does your daughter check her friends' social media stati, or statuses?
I think English and Latin versions can correctly co-exist colloquially.
:/

Cactuses is sort of clumsy that said.

Never apologize for your english. Most foreigner's speak it better than americans. Brits can barely speak english at all.
Liberate tutume ex inferis. Kool movie and yes, I took latin in elementary school.
