I think somebody botched my paint-job.

Pretty sure others have mentioned similar things before but I thought I'd put it out there....

This is the Black Friday paint-job (or whatever it's called) on my Mamba.
Paint is at 100% and I haven't twiddled the brightness/gamma to exaggerate the issue.
This is how it looks in the game, in certain lighting conditions.

I think, maybe, the paint robots need a service.

Yeah, I’m one of those people who whinge about the Black Friday paintjobs at every given opportunity . They're pretty awful under certain lighting conditions, and it goes way beyond a mere “velvety” appearance. I have them for 4 or 5 of my ships, and they all exhibit the same issue to varying degrees. The rest of the game renders fine, including other paint jobs. Pretty shoddy for a supposedly "premium" extra.

It's space camouflage...

A lot of the textures seem kind of low res when viewed closer up, so maybe it's to do with getting a "textured" look while working within res limitations.

Being primarily a space vagabond in the game, my main gripe is with how quickly the paint jobs degrade. Frontier should have a preview of the fully degraded paint jobs in their store too, so I have a better idea of what I'll be seeing much more frequently in the game.
