I think the AI has some sort of zombie virus

I just got attacked by an elite conda bounty hunter and a few minutes later an elite FDL bounty hunter, and they both exhibited a ravenous need to ram me over and over, heedless of any sense of logical self-preservation or tactical advantage. I say that cause I was in my corvette, and the FDL pretty much killed himself bashing himself over and over into my hull. I think maybe I lost a ring of shields, at most, with 4 pips into sys.

Thought maybe there was some weird zombie virus infecting the AI :)

I knew it! I'm trying to tell people this game is a zombie survival game and has to be played as such but no one listens!

Seriously though, this is a survival game.

Ramming is a common combat tactic. It can seem counter intuitive, but its certainly not new.

I've never seen an opponent so single-mindedly hell-bent on ramming me to the point where they destroy themselves against my hull. Like nobody in their right mind would ram a corvette with a FDL, it's about the opposite of an "Elite" thing to do, especially when his shields went down, and he just kept going and going.

It's a bug. FD know about it. The AI should ram us, but Only when it's a tactical advantage, not when it's suicide.

It's like saying it's a good idea to headbut a tree until your skull caves in, tree would maybe lose a bit of bark, you would die.

Tree wins.

Ok good that it's a known issue for FD. I wonder if it tends to afflict the higher ranked AI more than the lowbies? Like their aggression setting on Elite is set so high that it overrides all other sense of tactics.

Lots of players do it. Not only in PvP but also against NPC's. The great thing about ramming is that it does not count as an assault.
