I unpinned ED from my favorites tab today.

I get it now. I understand why people park outside beginner system stations and grief noobs. There's simply nothing left to do. Once you've done everything this game currently has to offer (which you can do rather quickly) you're left with few truly enjoyable options. Even PvP which would normally have the longest lasting appeal due to individual CMDR skill levels and build choices is repetitive and wholly dependent on the meta. There just isn't an interesting re-playable core game mechanic so out of boredom they turn to trolling noobs. Heck, I myself turned to trolling PvP'ers by baiting them into attacking me and then legally logging out on them. Why not? It's a product of boredom not malice. What's the alternative? Do what I've already done thousands of times in this game already all over again? When I bought ED I was under the impression that I was buying into a gloriously deep and complex universe with an amazing 10 year plan to bring it to ever greater heights. And somehow I'm on the verge of uninstalling simply because me being a troll in a game out of boredom isn't worth paying money for.

Bloomin heck what a turn around !

You can't force me into open any more than you can force me into your mom's basement to look at your fedora collection. Just not gonna happen. ;)
.
Then quite suddenly your in open trolling "noobs" and PVPers and got so good at it (in 3 days) you are bored of it
.
Short attention span there for sure......................

Fair enough, but I do have a bit of a story behind that. I was actually about 5000ly away from Sol doing a bit of exploring. I found myself logging in to ED, looking at where I was, looking at how long it would take to get back into the bubble, and just logging out. I must have done that about 10 times before I realized I was just not at all interested in either continuing out or heading back in. So I self destructed. After that, I knew I was kind of finished with ED. So just to make sure, I logged in to open where it didn't take long to get to trolling noobs and PvP'ers. As far as being good at it, it's not as if it's very difficult. Just do what pretty much everyone else is doing.

Most people who are bored or frustrated find something productive to do.

Others think "Today I will behave in the most sociopathic way possible, as long as it takes." What is "it", you ask? I'unno. The end is to coerce people into doing things they don't want to do, usually something unattainably fantastic, like FDev closing Solo, women carrying every fetus to term or the West into surrendering to a global Islamic caliphate.
And when they inevitably fall short of attaining this "goal", the celebrate themselves as heroes for making an effort.

Except this is not preschool. Mere efforts don't get you smiley stickers here. Real adults think about issues from multiple angles and find a compromise. Becausein the real world, you can't afford to make enemies.
People get used to their behaviour on the internet having no consequences. FDev is a terrible role model here. They have to put the fear of god (for a lack of a better term) into these people. Otherwise they will keep proudly emulating the djihadist mindset, thinking they are untouchable. Meanwhile, there probably is a human resources guy out there that they shot down who can connect their exploits with their real name by using google.

Sorry you feel this way OP. I had the same feeling with GTA and Witcher, non of my friends could understand why. I tried to explain to them that there is just no depth, there are grind mechanics everywhere hidden behind fancy graphics and instructions to carry the actions out.

This is the nature of gaming today, your job is to find a game where the grind is so well hidden you never notice it...

Because modern games try to copy real life mechanics.
What do all people in real life? Grind. Because everybody wants a nice house, a fancy car, travel around the world, spend money on clothes, gadgets, Pc hardware :) ...

Gentlemen, I give you my latest invention. The revolving door. You can go enter and exit with equal ease, and brilliantly it allows you to do it as many times as you wish. It also does not coerce you to do any of this.

Choice. A wonderful thing, but not newsworthy, unless you are being forcibly denied it.

no no no no, no-one grinds in real life. We all have our dream job! drive Ferraris, date fashion models, eat at Cut at 45 Park Lane everyday, get your family picture taken by paparazzi's. Life is just like floating on a pink cloud in space.. .. .. ..

Ground Control to Major Tom
Ground Control to Major Tom
Take your protein pills and put your helmet on
Ground Control to Major Tom (ten, nine, eight, seven, six)
Commencing countdown, engines on (five, four, three)
Check ignition and may God's love be with you (two, one, liftoff

I have got bored in many games

I never take that boredom out on new players, or set about trying to wreck players relaxation and fun time just because "I need lolz"

It's a low life move (to put it politely)

No game is meant to be played forever.

Remember the fun times, find something else to play for a bit, and come back when 2.1 is released if you fancy it.

Really not that hard!

So the thrust of this thread is you tried something in the game and it turned out to be hard. You've lost interest and now you're just attacking easy targets, pilots that unfamiliar with the controls, because it makes you feel what? Good? Powerful?

I imagine you'll be one of the biggest loses to a player base any game has ever seen.

EDIT - well pretty much ninja'd
