I use a Thrustmaster HOTA Is there a way I can add more buttons with another device.

I know the PC guys can add all sorts of things, like Voice control or a bank of buttons.

What about us PS4 guys. Is there anything like that that we can add? Can I add a BT keyboard and add Shortcuts to various functions?

Can I add a normal PS 4 controller to add more functionality?

Perhaps a new HOTAS, to upgrade the now old Thrustmaster T4?

Thanks!

NOPE..
All consoles this gen are Closed hardware addons systems If the device is not a native controller supported unit theres no connecting it to console for thsi title... It has to be a DS4 controller Which is restricted to Exactly the same button combos or a TF4 Hotas...

NO other USB HID work for key mapping they are all restricted to those 2... And the HOTAS Key map is only loaded at the "press X screen* even if you connect a hotas after that screen the controll selection is fixed... Only FDEVs cobra game engine does this... if I use the HOTAS on Ace combat 7 or Farming sim 2019 Both Hotas and DS4 are still enabled for game play use...
You will not get another Hotas supported and PS5 may not even have a hotas at all untill a proven Aircraft title release is announced, the current HOTAS 4 only exists due to the warthunder deal done on PS4... All the other titles piggy backed of that deal... Without that russian title deal you could still be playing on DS4...

You can only have one primary controller at a time - Either a DS4 or a HOTAS 4.
You can have an additional BT keyboard if you want. It isn't perfect and can't be used for controlling the ship but it can be used for text box entry (in game chatting, galaxy system searching, etc)

I wonder if the PS5 will support other devices?
FDEV have shown VERY clearly they DO NOT want to Support a USB devices that is NOT supported by the platform holder...
This is a developer CHOICE not SIE rules... Other devices can go through LIcensing with SIE but those makers choose NOT too...

SIE alllow Developer to CODE to support a third party unlicensed controller BUT that developer has to them selves DO ALL the testing and QA and USB driver support at their own costs....
This has been done by OTHER developers in other titles... (cough, PJC, cough cost them a lot of time and bug fixes to support unlicensed controllers on PS4..)

Second screen TABLET use while in game has been used to give additional controls during in game for additional actions on titles...
SIE supports this... They built there own tech to make it easier for developer called PLAYLINK.. This is not supported by FDEV currently...

The solutions allready Exist Fdev does not want to use them.. USB keyboard remaping was asked for BEFORE release and i still NOT supported...

Solutions are allready present on console FDEV does not want to use them...

I use MFD Cougars and Voice Attack on PC

Overkill

LOL - I think I paid $49 for my set

Cheaper

it is possible, but a many work, you kan use a PC/Laptop with a https://gimx.fr/ adapter, ther you kan simulate a PS4/controler, yes the thrustmaster PS4 wil work with it.

with this software/adapter you can use olso other hotas (i use the logitech X52 on ps4)

Interesting... So thee controller is connected to PC and the PC to PS4. Problem I have is I use a Mac. Has no date for Mac support.

Back when I was on PC I had an X52. So the software lets you map Key Combos to the PS4? Is there any lag, delay in controlling the PS4?

The source code is there - you might be able to compile it for Mac. I need to have a look at this too, very intriguing.

I use the hardware / software for about 4 weeks @Elite with the Logitech X52 before that I have been using the software for about 1 year in GTA5 / RedDeadRedemption2, from time to time (about once a week) a command gets stuck for about 10 seconds but otherwise I can not say that there are a lot of laggs .....

The software was also available for the Raspberry Pi (the new one only costs € 60), I also used it briefly, but I had to discard it because Logitech does not have a mouse driver for Linux ..... I don't know whether the Logitech X52 works on Linux. At the moment I am still using a NUM pad for some additional commands (throw off the heat sink .....)

:( I do hope that they add the ability to use other controllers for the Ps5. PSVR as well. Playing on vr on that console would be great
