I Wanna Be a Conda Killer

Didnt watch the clock, but im sure its under 5min.
It takes longer to wait for the conda than to kill it.

Vipers killing Anaconda's .. Yea i guess that makes some sense. They are a huge ship. Small ships beating bigger ships. Sounds about right.

Although the easiest time i have melting Anacondas are in my Clipper and python. But that's a serious investment in credits.

Be ready and learn how to dynamically adjust your pips. I.E. 4 pips in weapons when attacking 4 pips in shields at other times. As a small craft you're advantage is more so in hit and runs. Although if you can stay on its rear end then that is the best tactic, it isn't always viable when they do some wonky flying.

Elite A.I. Know exactly how to fly the ship they're in. Some have gone so far as to think the A.I. Can do things in these ships that players can't and it isn't true.

Chaff and Shield cells are your friend. Better to have and not need than need and not have.

And i know others have mentioned all this before. I'm saying it too simply because it's good advice and it works.

Also, the only ships that should have Turrets are the Anaconda and Type 9.

and you can, through the menu, assign keys for launching Chaff and using shield cells. Although I've had Chaff screw up on my for some reason so I have my primary firing group as 1 and chaff as 2 but shield cells work off a key. helps not having to switch around firing groups in a fight.

If all else fails you can easily boost away till you get your shields back.

Get your kills in before 1.2 and good luck Commander!

I dont like the fact that a Viper can mess an elite conda solo in 1.1 (coz conda is my main ship), but it is what it is. IMO it's the best fighter to do it (in my Python I take too many hits and need to use SCB too often for my liking), my tactic is to hug him, staying mostly in his rear end, never letting him gain any distance. Just look out for plasma if it managed to face you (at close range you cant evade no matter how slow the projectile is).

Well, with a little help from my Security Service buddies, I took the Conda down. Thanks for the info CMDRs.

This isn't the only game where the smaller ships can trump the bigger ships. Is it right? Not in my opinion. I've never EVER agreed with the cheapest ship being able to stomp the more expensive ships. But that's how it currently is and it's up to FD if they wish to change it.

If you get stomp by a smaller ship, it is time to think about redoing those tutorials.

More expensive ship should not = win. It should be a mix of knowing how to fit a ship well and flying it well.

No need for shieldcells in a viper vs a ai conda.
Fixed 2 beamlasers 1 and 2 multis 2, reactive hull.
Boost out of range to 4-5k with 4pips engine and 2 system. Turn and fly backwards and scan it.
Swich to 4pips wappons and 2 system. Shoot at it and stay between 2-3k distans flying backwards.
If you come unter 1,5k use side thrusters to move or the plasma will hit you.
I use fsd as target. The conda goes booom with 70 hull.
If you do it right the conda never will touch your hull.

It works, but it doesn't exactly feel like combat kinda cheap really

An Anaconda has a significant advantage over a Viper - however, that advantage is not insurmountable if the Viper pilot has a significant advantage in skill and in intelligent ship fitting. This is particularly the case with NPCs, who by design have to be easier than a human pilot or the entire NPC bounty hunting economy implodes.

Just registered on the forum and my first thread post. Been playing ED since Beta and felt it time to mothball the Type 9 at Delporte Market and kick on with a career in assassinations/bounty hunting. Flew to ATATA, brought a Cobra MKIII, kitted it out with some multi-cannons, lasers and other general upgrades costing several million credits. Flew 'home', accepted a 160k CR assassination mission and went to work in the system, checking out every USS I could find. Target eventually pops up, yep it's an Elite Wanted Anaconda. Problem is that I am getting a real hiding but consider myself a competent pilot. The Conda lays straight in with what must be a set of gimballed lasers and literally within a second my shield is gone and I am taking severe hull damage. Whatever I try, slewing with thrusters, boosting, turning, it either has been nailed straight on or broadsides me with the gimbals. So it's panic, turn, four pips to engines, boost and supercruise back to the nearest A&E dept. And repeat.

I have looked at some of the YouTube clips from a few months ago that show guides to taking out Condas. But those Condas don't seem to be as aggressive as what I am coming across right now in game. Has this difficulty been upp'ed in recent weeks? Any help with outfitting also greatly appreciated. Thanks CMDRs.

Forget the videos - they are from way back when Condas were easy targets. Missile spamming doesn't work either. I eventually canceled the Elite Conda mission in my Cobra.

Could being the operative word. What was the actual success rate - and how many of those were one-on-one ;)

Torpedo boats never really got the chance to show what they were worth against battleships AFAIK. Navies were so scared to lose a battleship to torpedo boats they quickly developed a new class of support vessel to protect their battleships: the torpedo boat destroyer (or destroyer for short).

So in terms of Elite Dangerous one should protect an Anaconda with a smaller ship that has the weapons and the manoeuvrability to destroy small fighters quickly. Also it needs good jump range to travel with the Anaconda (assuming the Anaconda has an upgraded FSD), so that rules out small fighters. Mabe the new Vulture is a good fit for that role? Or the Cobra or Asp? With Wings in 1.2 this "battle group" scenario can be played out.

Ive had some people posting some great content in the thread I started here.
https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=119126&highlight=

Most of the vids in there are relevant for 1.2. Overall, most of that thread is mostly no nonsence Conda killing worth a look.

Ill be going back to trying to kill them with a Viper again soon. I knew I had to try the Clipper out once I could afford it, but I get impatient with trading, I want to murder NPCs too much.
Hope it helps OP, good luck.

Neat, so that's one less way to make money in combat, which was already sub-par for profits. They really want to force us into trading, don't they?
