I want to be a pirate

It's official, I got my first taste today after being frustrated with not finding any places to buy cargo. So I thought "What if others buy it for me?" and that's how it started.

I'm clumsy, very clumsy from the interdiction to the messaging I just can't get it swift and quickly. How can I send the message without having to type it in-game?

Also what is a good ship with a good setup? I was thinking maybe use a clipper with imperial hammers, just to give them both some use or is it a bit overkill?

I'm using this atm https://coriolis.edcd.io/outfit/cob...f41l1l1212020c03032b6q2727.Iw1/kA==.Aw1/kA==.

Should I keep the Hatch breakers for the NPC'S?l

Any tips would be appreciated

You refer to the Video you posted the other "Why MultiCrew in small ships is fun too".

I once flew a Cobra III but never could remember that this beast would be so maneuverable and fast with so much space in it. So I´ll bought it back. Hatchbreaker limpits are always a viable option because the NPC get rid of their stuff in in less random encounters. I got a message once, where a T6 send me a message (all NPC only) that he will give me all of his cargo. I stopped shooting at him and he released it. To get it all fast before the feds showed up I used collectors to grab stuff faster. I even helped the with my cargo hatch.

My outfit on the Cobra is https://eddp.co/u/UvMZS4fb Its Engineered of course but on another PC.

I´m not satisfied with the little MC-Turrets on the small hardpoints. Maybe Cannons are more worthy.

Im certainly not the greatest of pirates. However the best method I have found for typing ingame is to use xbox smart glass on a device like a phone or tablet.

If you have a spare USB keyboard, you can connect this to your Xbox, and type directly in the comms window instead of that annoying popup you get otherwise.

Welcome to the honest profession ø7

Either usb keyboard or the plugin chatpad work well for comms. I bought the latter especially for couch piracy and it works a treat.

Yes, you want hatchbreakers if you're pirating npcs. I bring them along for pirating cmdrs too, though have been semiretired from that for a while, looking to get back into that game in the near future though.

I´m curious:
Does a Hatchbreaker break the Hatch even if the Module is disabled in the module Section of the game?

A Manifest Scanner is useful too! Since you can´t always know whats in the Cargo if you are in supercruise (the hell knows why NPS know EVERYTHING even in SC)

Try out an anarchy system with a blackmarket 1st. There you have not to witness any consequence and can interdict ANYBODY

Hatchbreakers work even when the target hatch is disabled, otherwise there would be no use for them because everyone would just disable their cargo hatch, also its been like this a while but you can use them on a shielded target now can't remember what update brought that in,

anarchy system is a good shout, look for an agriculture economy in anarchy and then grab any ship with a refinery for shiny diamonds

For the record, there used to a be a glitch whereby switching off power to the cargo hatch would prevent hatchbreakers from working. That was fixed some time back however.

Before the fix, many traders would advocate shutting off power to the hatch in an attempt to foil pirates. Whereas in practice they were really just inviting themelves to be shot to death. Though I guess they'd decided to be uncooperative to begin, so that was probably going to be the outcome either way.

Ahh..or I mean to say...Arrrg

Welcome to the world of Pirating! One of my favorite hobbies in this game.
My favorite Ship for this profession is the Diamondback Scout; https://coriolis.edcd.io/outfit/diamondback?code=A0pataFal8das5f41s1s202j02020a0f2929296b.AwRj4yKA.Aw1%2FkA%3D%3D.H4sIAAAAAAAAA3WOMU4CYRCFn%2F5s2GVZWWAlv8ZGXCEaCmpC4RksrD2GR6D2BJQUlnsACwpLz2BFYUGjEVj%2Bx4zJT2hoXl5mvvdm4EIA20AkTn%2FI5vSXzKcNgCfuQVdGJHxekq2F2M5sS%2FLUWZ9qjCWQFRvyPKwCdh4BN4OFQMZdKlRRaPgn%2BbcEyLTafgrJwI18f6TTmk6v8zXZ1SO36nr%2F50L36JtKFfMhcpfJ%2BUraBy5sKVB0AFWPQbUDyByDYve0hxL9%2FuVbvi%2B%2BSPu%2Bkn3q7v0%2BfhU9m7SBprrWVR3I1ZE7w9CD%2BloBAAA%3D&bn=Corp%20Spy
It's not everyone's cup of rum, it's a technical fighter, not a typical pewpew ship. The first thing you might notice is that this ship has 0 cargo space. But, if your being honest with yourself, replacing traded cargo with stolen cargo is a negative sum game.
I'm talking about true Pirating PvP action (not the interdict, I'm just gunna kill you for the fun of it. Leave that to the Thorgoid loving traitors).

A true pirate will strike fear and confusion into their target, and at the same time make them willingly give up their cargo.

This is how i Live the Pirate Life.
-Start at a Trade CG, use the Manifest Scanner and monitor the coming and goings of players. Find a Lamb, and use the HighWake Scanner to follow them to their destination. This takes some practice, especially when multiple jumps are involved. (This is also a good way to locate trade routes if your not using an online trade tool) If the encounter becomes violent, this method keeps you from acquiring Wanted levels at the CG.

-I wait until they are docked before starting any conversations or threats. I start typing up my message while I wait, then send it out when the timing feels right. Learning when to send that message will make or break your encounter. I'm like Mung, I use the controller chatpad. I have found that a light touch is more effective than a Heavy "Gimme or Die" approach. I begin with "Do not be alarmed CMDR........ I am only here for your cargo. I am a hungry Pirate on the account. Deliver ....tons of (scanned cargo) to me outside of the station. I mean you no harm, but do not attempt to run."

It has been my experience that one of three things typically will happen;
1. They are so scared they Log Off. Satisfying
2. They succumb to my will. Very Satisfying, "I'm a Pirate!" (again I have no cargo space, but that's not the point is it)
3. They run or fight. Best and most exciting outcome imo.

I use the mines with Ion Disrupters to stall their thrusters, double shot frag cannons with Dazzle Shells to finish em off, and use stealth to ward off gimbled weapons and missiles. Again, confusion is the key. I have had many a message after the battle, "I didn't know what the hell was happening!"

Like I mentioned, this ship is not as straight forward as others. It takes a bit of practice, but its fast, effective, and a cheap rebuy. Perfect for a pirate.

That said, I'll change out the interdiction and scanners for a module reinforcement and more heat sinks. Now I have a very good PvE bounty hunter. I have no problem taking on a NPC Annie with wing support by myself. And I suppose if you really wanted to take on NPC's as a pirate, you could trade some armor for storage and hatch busters. I just find it more fulfilling to harass real players, and, I have made many friends in this game by keeping to the pirate code.

Well, that's my 2cents. I hope you find as much pleasure as a Pirate as I do. Good Luck.

Ah the pirates life. It's not what it once was sadly...ships will reboot and repair in record timing these days.

Go Cobra MkIII, AspX, or Clipper (speed is your best friend). Learn the ropes in an anarchy system. Heist diamonds, if a ship has a refinery, they probably have diamonds.

Don't expect to get rich, but do expect to have fun. Arrr......
