First of all apologies if this has already been said but I've done a quick search and can't find anything.

I was becoming a little lost when I started the game once and just couldn't think what I wanted to do, I don't like exploring and I don't like trading, each to their own but I find it a little boring.

I'm pretty well liked at my local space port so I thought it would be good to immerse myself in the game and be a pretend security vessel, the problem is that getting scanned by the other security vessels sort of took the immersion away from me.

I think it should be possible to work toward becoming a security vessel, for me the idea would work on first starting out as internal security for a particular space port, then all the ports in the system and then on to the whole of Empire, Fed etc

For me the rules would be:

No KWS in any system that you patrol, will lose you influence
No Killing in any system that you patrol if not wanted, will lose you a lot of influence and you will be fined X 5 of normal fine
Allowed to pick up stolen cargo which awards you influence and some credit (about 15% of what it's worth on commodities)
Security Vessels under the same faction, system, Empire/Fed etc you patrol won't scan you
Security Vessels under the same faction, system, Empire/Fed etc you patrol are more likely to come to your aid
You can still be fined for attacking but not killing (as happens by accident sometimes) X 3 normal fine

Please let me know what you think

I won my first Eagle in a poker game, I wasn't a good guy but now I'm trying to make up for my wrongs by taking down the scum

Interesting suggestion, but you can do this kind of job by hunting bounty heads. You get reputation, police is on your side, and you are lucky because of this. :D

Signed.

Great idea, would love to have Security Vessels as my Wing and work for a local militia. Not sure how work/reward thingy would work but would add another aspect to gameplay.

This is subtly different to bounty hunting and would be good from a role-play mechanic.

I think you'd have to be allied with the faction operating in that space, but get all the benefits of being an NPC copper. So the others will help you out more readily and the like. But equally, you'll have a higher standard of being good. They could pay you an amount for every X minutes patrolling a sector, or fixed bonuses on-top of whatever the local bounty is etc.

Hehe, I could get behind that, would prefer a SAR role if im honest, but then if we could have 1 it would make sense to have the other too.

I like that idea. It should have to be something you have to work hard to get. More than top imperial or fed rank but perhaps accredited security forces could get discount on upgrades in systems they patrol.

Yes but that is bounty hunting and the police still scan you like your under suspicion which when I'm pretending I'm one of them takes the whole role play immersion away from me, plus if I picked up stolen cargo they would scan and attack me when all I want to do is hand it in (for less profit than smuggling)

maybe look at performance related pay as opposed to earning directly from handing in contraband, stolen goods etc.. so rather than instant financial returns, something akin to a salary, maybe paid out once in any 24hr period, so you could pick it up at the end of your shift, if you then decided to do some more after that then it would roll over to the days pay. i agree that it should be a hard rep to grind up and easy to loose if you decide to go on a crazy spree during your off hours lol.

I think it's a good idea.

You'd need to be allied to the local faction and have a clean record there. Then you could take a contract for that system.

You could get paid for successful illegal cargo scans and for taking out wanted targets. But it should be challenging to stay clean and not lose your contract due to repeat infractions.

I'd be possible to patrol stations as well as super cruise and nav points/ res points.

It would be unique enough to be viable and fun.

It sounds like it could be fun, maybe once wings are out they could create BB missions where you join up with the local police NPCs and/or players to eliminate pirates? Obviously you'd have to have good rep with the station to be offered the job.

Salary would be ok with me, you could have it on the notice board as a always there mission that has a timer of 1 day where you have to maybe catch a certain amount of wanted criminals with the number increasing with difficulty level?
