I want to feel the BOOOOOOM!

Don't you just love it when an anaconda disintegrates and the fusion reactor explodes from all that pressure it's under?

Me too.

I want to hookup my sub woofer to my computer, but I play with a headset.

I've been searching the web but haven't found a way to do this.

Has anyone found a way to make this happen?

Now for my pitch to FD:

Can you give us more sound options, such as playing the LFE effects to a different device, etc?

Also, can you export other telemetry like the orientation of the ship, vibration of parts of the ship, and any other impact the ship is receiving from the outside?

Doing these things would really help me feel the BOOOOOOM!

Isnt there like a vibrator your fix to your chair that reacts on gamesounds? Dunno the name of it..

Better than that, there’s a vibrating vest you can wear, I think it’s called a “Hardlight Suit” that you can get if you use VR. Not sure if it’s compatible with ED yet, though.

I actually would like a software solution. A pseudo audio device that routes the sound data depending on frequency.

Heheh, never called it a vibrator before.. I use a Buttkicker gamer (transducer) different to simply using a large Subwoofer, incredibly powerful, would find it hard to play ED without one. Perfect with VR.

@Op - Also have a Subwoofer hooked up, use it with my normal speakers and headphone. You can buy Y splitters cheap. Have as many options as you want.

@amadeus1171 - Was talking to the main ED sound guy a while back, was trying some software called 'Peace' You can do a fair bit with it, include change the transducer intensity based on the incoming frequency.

I use the buttkicker as well. Really cool. Definitely adds to the immersion of flying a spaceship.
But I don't use it all the time as the rest of the family doesn't appreciate all the vibrating as much.

I bought some industrial rubber floor mats. Works great, soaks up any vibrations from the chair into the floor. Cheap too, only have to cover the area for your gaming chair.

These basic home use mats are only £20

good idea. [up]
i put an area rug under mine, which did help (was way better that right on the hardwood, lol).
might try something like this, but to be honest, between the wife and the mother-in-law-, i think I'd be better off building a separate office off the garage. :p

How is the BOOOOOOOOOOM for you with the "Night Time" audio setting? Not really subwoofer-related but might be enough until you find a better solution.

I figured out how to do it! It's no butt kicker, but it does shake the room and makes my headset boom like a real stereo. lol

Here's how I did it:

First, download VoiceMeter or VoiceMeter Banana. I know, it's a strange name. Banana offers more options than regular VM. It's "promiseware". That is, it's free to download and use. It's completely up to the honor system whether you pay for it or not. It's a really good piece of software. I'd suggest supporting them.

I'm using VM Banana, so I'll use this as my tutorial, but the same should apply for VM.

Install VM and restart your machine.

Next, from the Windows System Sound options, choose either VoiceMeeter Aux Input or VoiceMeeter Input. I chose VoiceMeeterAux because that's what Banana chose for me.

Now open up VM (Banana) and set A1 (on the top right side) of HARDWARE OUT to your headset. In my case, I'm using the optical out for my headset and analog out for my desktop speakers and subwoofer.
Then set A2 to the device powering your subwoofer.

Note: Getting your subwoofer to work in Windows might be a little tricky. My Asus Crosshair VII HERE (wifi) uses a RealTek sound device. I set the speaker configuration to 5.1 and only activated the subwoofer in the optional speakers. The front and left speakers can be set as full range, but make sure the surround speakers are not. When I set my surround speakers to full range the subwoofer stopped working.

You should now hear sound coming from your headset and subwoofer. Adjust your subwoofer as necessary.

For the other options you'll have to look through the VM guide to see what they do.

Oh, I'm I'm using MME for my A1 and A2. For some reason, when I use WDM the sound is distorted.

You can play with the equalizer as well to balance out the sound if it sounds tinny (spelling?).
Mine is set to treble: 2.4, Mid: 4.0, Bass: 3.6.

For my AI Physical, I'm using Upmix 6.1 For my A2 Physical, I'm using Stereo Repeat. It sounds better for me.

Enjoy the boom!!!!!!

The order doesn't matter, but I set A1
