I want to kill players and take their loot/cargo and money.

I'm not familiar with this game, but I know what I want to do.

I want to fly around and spend no more than 10 minutes finding a player. Then I want to shoot him down, kill him, take his cargo, loot, money. Then I want to send him a message and thank him for the loot he provided me.

Can this be done, or is this yet another carebear mmo like world of warcarft?

Yep can be done, yet you'll have to send the message prior to destruction.
On a sidenote, i think without experience in this game you will be shot down more often

not familiar with his game and shooting down others. uh huh. you can sure come and try to take down my fully fitted carebear asp with your trash stock sidewinder. ill leave the keyboard alone for the first five minutes, i promise.

You can do it, but it typically takes much longer than 10 minutes. You need to be based in a system with a high degree of player activity, you need to scan the cargo holds of individual players until you find one who's carrying valuable goods (which may take a while, as many traders play in solo mode), and you need to be fortunate enough to engage a player who doesn't simply do a shameful 'logoffski' when he feels threatened.

The world of animals is divided between passive and active copers. Active copers jump each other and react and seek thrills, passive copers hide, look on and carefully explore. Active coping becomes benificial with a high population density, passive with a low population and uninhabited surroundings. It is obvious what this game's world is, and how that differs from many other game worlds and how those have created expectations among the active coping part of the gamer population.

other players ships are all labeled "System Authority Vessel" (ED's way of labeling them) just shoot any and all of those then go land at the nearest Space station to cash in on all the loot
