I was interdicted......

I was playing in the Beta, and got interdicted while flying my corvette (with empty cargo hold). I submitted, and as soon as I was in normal space...the NPC scanned me and said "bah, nothing here, worthless dreg." and flew off...no attack at all...

I tried my best for the next hour to get interdicted again, to see if it would repeat, but with no success. Could one of an explorer's worst fears now be gone?

I think this is optimism or just plain wishful thinking.

This is elite, where sods law is a part of the programming. 'If it can happen, it will at the worse possible time.' :D

Some have suggested that if the last time a player looked at their inventory they left it on a materials displayed screen instead of an empty cargo one that might instigate an interdiction. Not enough testing to yet to prove this either way.

I have been interdicted in Beta multiple times by NPC pirates with no cargo, and can confirm this seems to be the new behavior. Much like pirate scans at RES sites, they now acknowledge that you have no cargo and don't bother attacking. I was VERY pleased to see this finally fixed and working as it should!

Ah! Glad to have it confirmed! I was fairly sure they had done something, because when I had a hold full of fish for the engineers, I got interdicted, and the pirate said something to the effect of "give me 12 tons of that fish, and I'll let you go this time", So the NPC was a bit more personal than "mmm..all that tasty cargo"

well here's another puzzle for you...

I had about 40T of bromelite, (I think that's what it was for one of the engineer unlocks) but i also had about 30T of painite and another 50T of palladium, I had just loaded the game back in the middle of nowhere and often NPC's spawn.

I was in my python with decent shields and turreted lasers but not quick enough for them not to follow you, so when a cobra scanned me, I just threw some pips to sys and was going to sit there and let the turrets at him but.... the npc chat went something like this...

what goods do you carry?
Bah nothing here... worthless dreg

and he flew off...

I had a hold full of goods, I had this happen once more on another day, but it was odd, and totally random as the next npc wanted the tasty cargo which was worthless 30 seconds earlier.

I don't suppose those were PowerPlay NPCs? Stuff like "Alliance Enforcer", "Federal Agent" and such. They only pounce on you if you carry PP cargo.
