I was reading a thread about PvP Bounty Hunting...

... and through all the well traveled pitfalls and reasons why this is kind of a fruitless activity, something jumped out at me.

People lose their bounties by suiciding in a sidewinder. This quickly and easily removes bounties at minimal cost to the suicidee, not to mention can be fiddled to allow their buddies to claim the bounty money on them.

Why not tie accrued bounties to the type of ship they were earned in? This would mean that shifting a bounty could be potentially costly, and tying it to the type of ship rather than the specific ship would prevent people selling and re-buying to shake bounties.

Now, if we could figure out how to circumvent letting your friend faceshoot you, then player bounties could be raised and the activity made worthwhile...

You don't lose your bounty when you suicide winder. It goes dormant and a scan or crime will make it active again.

No he means ( and yes I have done it myself) I transfer to a sidewinder, fly out in front of system security and give them the finger, they blowme up, bounty removed.

Making bounties only claimable by human CMDR's would be an interesting twist ;)

In that, if you Suicidewinder or get killed by AI NPC, it doesn't go away.

"Hey m8 I got a stupid bounty on me. I'm gonna get in my Sidey, can you come to my system and kill me quick?"
"Sure m8"

Try again. :p
