Newcomer / Intro i was thinking.....

firstly hello everyone

this is my first post and what a corker it is... probbly

i found out the other day that Elite Destruction was coming to the xbox one.
i should also point out that ive only had an xbox one for about two weeks,
and last week i decided to invest in a 40 inch 100hz full HD TV
so finding out about Elite was really mindblowing.
i cannot wait and ive lost interest in every other game.

my question relates to the xbox one and the possiblity of enhancing the experience
by utilizing the chat pads that you can attach to the controller
for those that dont know, its a mini keyboard that you attach to a controller so that you can type messages easier.

if there could be support for that, it (i believe) would bring the xbox one alomst level with the PC in terms of control.

is this a possibilty?

anywayz...

nice one.

Welcome to the forums.

Good to hear that you are excited for the game.

I really don't know the answer to your question but I'd hazard a guess that they will offer an alternative control scheme for Xbox rather than allow you to map controls to a keyboard peripheral. The keyboard you clip to your controller will allow you to chat easier but I would bet that will be about it.

As I say though, I really don't know. I could be very wrong.

cheers for the reply!

it has been a mild concern of mine as to how frontier could achieve the same level of controls with much fewer buttons.

in the heat of a dogfight, i need to be able to change targets, shift power and get out of there if necessary
while not having to disengage from the actual flying of the ship.
i do have faith, but at the same time.... i cant help but wonder how they'll do it.

I already use an Xbox One controller to play Elite on the PC.

You can map many, many functions to it - but not all. Maybe they won't add quick keys or anything and you'll have to use the computers to lower landing gear etc.?

My hope is that I could use my cloud-based save from the PC for the Xbox version when it comes out so I can continue my exploring on the console as well as the PC. However as my cloud save is with Frontier and the Xbox will most likely use Xbox Live I can't see this being possible at all. The real question is do I still pick up the game for Xbox and start from the very beginning again? What a thought that is...

Kinect-based voice attack though... something very interesting that should definitely be implemented.

i have to say, i do really like the xbox one controller. it was a bit weird at first but now its natural, and the 360 controller feels like a clunky piece of £*$%.
regarding the cloud saves..., i'm out of my depth on this one. my first cloud save experience was yesterday with borderlands the handsome collection.
it was a one way trip. that said, i now have two identical saves on two consoles i can play either, but progress is not shared
i know that with 'destiny' you share the one profile between two consoles and you can play on either,
but..., all of the data is stored on the server, and there is no offline mode. my guess would be that if some sort of cloud saving was possible with Elite,
you might be able to copy your progress from one format to the other but they would be seperate from that point.

then again, xbox live is a different community. even if you had to start again, you would be in a strong position. knowledge is power!!.
maybe you could start a clan and teach them how to be good players?

personally i would rather have everyone start from the same point. the idea of having experienced, well progressed PC players killing off newbie xbox players,
would probably crush any growth before it had a chance to thrive, and i really want this game to do well.
not just because i like it, but because we need something with depth and sophistication on a console. this could be the start of something really special!
most of what we get now is what i call fast food gaming. dumbed down so anyone can play it.

cheers
