I was tricked and led into a dirty trap fueled by my own vengeance!

A month ago or so I was doing a rare commodity run in a toothless Lakon when a PC in a combat Clipper stalked and interdicted me without RPing or even hailing me he proceeded to destroy my ship and of course hundreds of thousands of credits in rares I was hauling! Took my lumps but jotted his name down....on the off change I run across him when I'm in a combat ship. An hour earlier a Cobra had interdicted me but this guy in the cobra RPed it to the hilt and I gladly dropped 10 rares for him! Destroying a trader without demanding cargo or role playing even a little = coward!!

So last night (about 8:30pm pacific) I'm SCing in my vulture in Lave when who do I spot in the distance....that same Clipper!! Now, he has a very distinctive silly name so I recognized him immediately. I looked to see if he was in a wing and nope, no wing. He was 'wanted' last time we met but read 'clean' this time. Dilemma - now I don't want to open fire on a clean ship BUT I realllly want vengeance. I mean what a chance I run across him again out of the black and happen to be in a Vulture this time!! So I ripped over to him, got behind him and fired up the 2A interdictor. He submitted. Pips to weapons and open fire with my 3C beams and watch his shields start to fall, also, I'm now 'wanted'! My capacitor is recharging and I get the first hint something is amiss - he texts me "Tsk Tsk".....I laugh as I'm owning him....strip his shields and start ripping up his hull when BAM a python drops in and lights me up!! Now my 502 MJ shields are starting to fall but I ignore the python and focus on the clipper. The clipper rams me and the python is just pounding me - at this point I know I'm doomed but I'm not logging that's for sure and my only hope is I can at least take the clipper scum with me! Nope - soooo close, but they got me!! Got ejected back to the last station I left 100ly away right before I destroyed his ship.

Learned a lesson as I didn't think you could form a wing and drop a nav beacon THAT quickly - I mean I had just started attacking him when his buddy dropped in!! You live and you learn! You guys got me but I do hope our paths cross again, hopefully when I'm in MY wing!!

Yeah, warping immediately to a new wing is one of the two flavour-of-the-month exploits, along with the supercruise-restores-shields thing.

Creating a wing when you get attacked is not an exploit, it is a tactic.

Very valid IMHO.

The shield thing, that sounds like an exploit.

I agree - I don't mind the use of this tactic. I was unaware that backup could arrive so quickly when interdicted and not yet in a wing. These two were clearly on their game and very used to PvP.

What? No RPing? Didn't you at least message him:
Hello, my name is Inigo Montoya. You killed me earlier. Prepare to die!

Trust me I so wanted to but I say his combat rank was greater than mine and his ship was well outfitted so the plan was to get him near 10% hull and THEN give em the do-you-remember-me VENGEANCE IS MINE speech!!

Do you have a link saying that wing beacon teleport and the shield replenishment are exploits? Because i too would like them to leave, but as far as i know they are working as intended.

I love these kinds of stories, three legit players having a good time, of course if it had happened I would have ended it with a screen as you rammed it into the bridge of the Conda Arvel Crynyd style.

Thanks, both of you! I'm kind of hoping he sees this thread and gives me his perspective. I too hope his repair bill was a big one, lord knows my rebuy was over a million!!

It was a noble attempt.. and wanted or not, the right thing to do would be to do your best at making him eat his rebuy of that clipper.. which was probably upwards of 4M credits. Paying off a 7000c bounty for his murder would be well worth it.

BUT... there is one major problem with your plan. The clipper pilot was just leading you on the entire time. If he thought for a second he was in any kind of touble, he would just boost out and out-run you. You could never catch a clipper that wanted to get away.

+repped for a good story and having some balls

Very good point. In fact a few days earlier I was hunting down wanted PCs and interdicted a clipper. This guy fought tooth and nail to avoid interdiction but my HOTUS-FU was strong and I won. Then he proceeded to leave me in the dust and jump away!

With the guy last night - I was hoping he'd have mad hubris and go mano-a-mano!!

Whaaatttt? So forming up a wing and broadcasting your position as quick as you can is an exploit now?
It is not an exploit...
